Shaman has received a few new card that require "If you cast a spell last turn". Now in comparison to other cards that have been released in AoO, this requirement is extremely difficult to pull of and the rewards are very little. Its extremely clunky, you have to worry about overload, playing the actual card in the correct circumstances, as well as the spell before, and thinking how the card will effect the next turn when the opponent still has cards to play.
Compared to say rogue, blackjack stunner, which requires a secret, which is incredibly easy to pull, and can be played on turn. Should it be "if you played a secret last turn"? If you put it into this context you can see how overpowered it is, and how the Shaman requirement should give much more benfit than what is current.
These cards are actually good but get let down from this incredibly complex requirement. Which makes all of them clunky or borderline unusable.
What i want to know is people thoughts on what if the requirement was "if you cast a spell this turn". because I think "if you cast a spell last turn" is probably one of the worst requirements out of any class in the game right now.
Marshspawn isn't clunky generally but the other 2 are so extremely hard to benefit from... They do have the old standard for value for cost (8 damage 5 mana, 5 mana 4/6 with an ability)... They are just rather weak cards all around when being release with this set. Marshspawn doesn't even have great discover options because well... It's discovering from shaman spells and there are a lot of whiffs thanks to the classic set.
Waiting on the AoO shaman package to get better throughout the year.. REALLY hoping Lady Vashj will improve more than anything. Shes already wild viable, so standard just needs that extra bump.
Marshspawn is a class card, and is literally just worse than Vulpera Scoundrel most of the time. For -1/-1 you need meet no condition, and have a 4th option if you super whiff. AND at neutral which are supposed to be weaker than class cards overall.
I don't mind the concept, but the cards do need to be balanced accordingly. Compare Shattered Rumbler to Crazed Netherwing, for instance. Easier condition and it deals a much needed 3 damage instead of two.
I think Torrent and Marshspawn are probably fine, though. The issue with Marshspawn is that Shaman doesn't have a 2-cost spell worth playing on curve, so it becomes more of a turn 4 overload play at best. With no board effect, that's a rough play against faster decks.
And Torrent may just always be one of those spells that you don't include in your deck, but are more than happy to find off of a discover in certain matchups. I think there's a place for that type of card, and there aren't a whole lot of similar cards to compare it to.

Because secrets have lower pool than spells

The problem is they just aren’t that great.

This is my hope, that everything synergizes much better into the future.

I think the requirement is fine, and these are the best cards in a deck you'd put them in.
It's just control shaman and combo shaman aren't great decks atm.
They are decent cards but I think shaman needs something more to make a control deck (it lacks a more powerful sort of finisher/late game threat)
