Altruis the Outcast needs to be changed as the title suggests. Stat and mana nerfs will not work for it. Any competent player who uses him correctly should win every game. With the amount of card draw and discount abilities DH has. Chaos Nova is one of the best AOE's in the game and it doesn't get played along with Soul Cleave and Blade Dance because Altruis is so good the player knows once it's in their hand they have a chance to comeback against almost any board. It could just be the interaction between Skull of Gul'dan that makes it so powerful but i think it's just Altruis alone.
Anyways now that that semi-salt rant is over I've seen a lot of suggestions over the last couple weeks and it seems like dealing damage to all characters aside from Altruis would be the most fair because if they changed it to only minions then DH arguably loses one of if not their best cards. The change of damage to all other characters would make it much more of a strategy/gamble play because you're asking yourself do i go all in and get my opponent to lethal on the next turn? or do i have to play it to clear the board or does that put me too close to lethal?
I know i'm probably gonna receive some salt thread comments but I'm interested in the constructive comments who knows maybe people are already too tired talking about this card but i've hit my breaking point with it.
The reason things like chaos nova arent played are because demon hunter plays an aggro deck. Its the new face hunter nothing else, and you dont need anything that doesnt go face.
No salt here. I don't think you should get salt for giving your honest opinion. I'd have to agree that Altruis AOE is very powerful and most likely needs to be changed. I feel like the big weakness with aggro decks is that once they lose the board they tend to lose the game unless the class also has burn from hand as backup (ex: Kill Command). So Altruis having that AOE is a powerful comeback tool for aggro decks to fight back and reclaim board, which I feel like makes Demon Hunter the best aggro deck right now in the meta.
Personally, I really love the design of Demon Hunter. The team really nailed the Outcast mechanic and I like how they have a Legendary like Altruis to combo with the new keyword, though the two problems I see with Altruis is that Twin Slice exists and that he also damages face. I probably wouldn't care too much about the card if it couldn't also damage face, but since it does, that's so much extra damage. Also, I don't think enough people are talking about the power of having four 0 mana cards for 1 damage that also goes along with Altruis. A nerf to twin slice would also hit Altruis cause that's the biggest combo I tend to see.
My suggestions to changes would make the first half of twin slice 1 mana (so 1 mana, add a 0 mana one to your hand), or make it similar to twinspell so the second copy is added back to the original position in the hand, and make Altruis not able to damage face.
But I definitely agree Altruis is still OP. It's easily one of the best board clears in the game, in a class which already has very good other board clears (Chaos Nova, Immolation Aura, Blade Dance). Compared to Paladin which is partly a control class, but doesn't have any good board clears atm that's just crazy.
Ppl should learn with OP about making a post when "complaining" about a card. Very constructive and i agree 100%. They win games when they shouldn't just cause of altruis while still doing face damage and clearing board
I disagree. I really don't think Altruis needs to be nerfed. Sorting by winrate when included into a deck, it's the 15th best card, below offenders like Warglaives of Azzinoth and Priestess of Fury.
I've said this in other threads, and I'll say it in this one too. Altruis the Outcast is a combo card. Combo cards work very well in specific situations and are near-useless in others. The reason why so many people hate Altruis when there are more powerful cards is that whenever the opponent DH plays Altruis, it's because they have already set up a situation where Altruis is good. What you don't see is all the times when Altruis doesn't have the proper setup and ends up screwing over the DH's hand, because the DH never plays Altruis in that situation.
Change like we move this guy off to HoF and bring in an entirely new card like with Priest's New Leggo? Or Nerf like you said to Hit All Characters, not All Enemies?
Altruis the Outcast hitting ALL characters except for himself would be a fair nerf (I think it wouldn't change anything wrt to DH decks running him by the way) AND consistent with the card's identity. He is an outcast, doesn't care if a minion (or hero) is his or the opponent's....
Altruis shouldn't deal damage to face. That's it. That's all it needs to be a good and fair card. There are no other cards in the game that deal this extremely high amount of damage to the opponent while destroying their board. It makes a comeback pretty much impossible. It can win the game on its own. That's how disgustingly overpowered this card is.
I think a beter thing for this card would be to have it proc when you play an outcast card. It would give it far more stratigic use and employment. It would also make your outcast cards even more complex.
Here's another idea: Make Skull of Gul'Dan cost 7 mana, draw 4 cards and have Outcast: the spell costs 5 mana. And change that 1 mana 2/1 minion into a 1/2 and have Outcast: gain +2 atack.
The real problem is the one-cost hero power and not a specific card.
Think about it - Changing it to 2 manas - gain 2 attack will bring it to the same strength level of the other hero powers and alot of broken synergies will be lost for DH.
Beside the effect on card synergies, the fact that the class has a better chance to fully use the available mana crystals each turn brings DH's hero power to Baku's power level, including the so important first turn each game. (And we know Blizzard admitted their mistake with this card by HOFing him early).
You can talk about class identity, but it seams like right now, DH has many identities either way.
The biggest issue i have is that you set up your board to deal with his minions, then Altruis comes into play and your board is gone and his isn't plus it does face damage... It shouldn't do both minion and face damage or damage ALL minions.
You have a card with the control effect of clearing the board, defend its oppressiveness and needless face damage by saying it's a combo, and yet it's played in a aggro deck. You don't see the problem?
If it were truly meant to be situational, it would affect everything.
The card hitting face is problematic, so many cards in the past few have been changed and even sadly gutted for the same reason

I believe Skull of Gul'Dan is the real issue. I would remove its outcast and have those drawn cards cost (3) less but only for one turn.

Altruis - Face.
Chaos nova - No face no play.

it is fucking obvious for everyone that it should't hit face with 4 cards for 0 mana and bullshit card which can also make tree cards for 0.

Revert the nerf on him and make it so that he can't hit face.

Community: this aggro card needs to be changed badly
Meanwhile at Blizzard: How about a 4 mana 7/7 instead?

Chaos Nova one of the best AoEs in the game?
As a Wild player I can only laugh at that.
Really how low is the power level in Standard that the complaining will never stop?
Altruis should not hit face. That's the biggest issue.
