I've been teetering back and forth on whether to craft Alexstrasza. I bounce around through several different classes but generally speaking I prefer control decks. I don't get usually get much chip damage in throughout the game, so I'm thinkin she could come in pretty handy for a quick final push, but would love to hear opinions on her.
I believe Alexstrasza will always find a place in any control mage deck. But other classes do not use her so often. Right now Alexstrasza is included in Renomage and Galalock decks.
It's a great card. Many people want it in HOF. Sooo maybe you will get dust refund in a couple years)))
It really depends on where you wanna go in future. If you play homebrew decks and just want to have some fun, Aleks could be a great addition to your deck. However Aleks is currently only used in very few meta decks (Galakrond WL, Highlander Mage).
If you are aiming at climbing the ladder and you are keen to netdeck, then I'd probably still craft it if I was close to either getting a Tier1 deck like Galakrond WL going or to get a Tier2 like Highlander Mage.
Aleks is a great card overall being able to flip games but it really depends if you want to be able to compete with a deck or have more fun playing a variety of your own decks, that might require more cheaper cards instead of a legendary.
I've been playing some big druid, and last 2 games have been won by punching them from ~30 ->15 then swinging with 15 board damage.
Alexstrasza definitely has her moments, but there are loads of good legendaries so it really depends on what other legendaries could be getting crafted instead.
I think if you like any decktype that plays Alex you will probably find use for it for the foreseeable future :)
I'm kinda just chillin at platinum 5-3 right now. Only reason I care about potentially getting to legend this month is for the free classic legendary, which, as I'm typing this it occurs to me that I could in fact get Alexstrasza as my freebie... do I need her to climb to legend tho is the new question. Warlock is my favorite class, and I just crafted Kanrethad Ebonlocke today for some Big Demon Quest Control shenanigans. It of course has your typical warlock dragon package. Right now running only 5 dragons to proc Nether Breath so its occasionally a whiff. Alex would help with that too...
OG Alex is one of those cards that always finds her way into the meta somehow and, for that reason, she's definitely worth a craft. I would say she's right there with Malygos, not a "must own" card but definitely handy to have.
She's a card that'll always be a relevant choice in any meta. She might not be "meta", but she can almost always find a place in any expansion. In the end, the crafting is up to you.

9 mana 8/8 potentially heal for 14, potentially deal 15 dmg. Not good enough for constructed, except in Warlock/Mage as mentioned above.
Yes I think so. It's a classic card that's never been under threat of being HOF'd, and it has its deck in every meta in multiple classes.
The card is really insane. But like you said "not good enough..", that really says something about this state of meta.
Fight, maggot!
