I played vs a Priest today turn 3 albatross into 4 mana revive+reborn and so on and so on by turn 8 i had about 12 dead draws in my deck im not sure i think it was playing this non minion mage or egg warri.
its ok to counter highlander or pure in some ways but adding this many dead draws with no downside its disgusting for any deck. I dont mind Albatross as a card but in combination with the abilites of priests to revive them so easily is not healthy, either one of them must go and i dont think they gonna change priest mechanics just because of albatross.
imo the best way to change albatross to give both players 2 copies. so atleast both have the same amount of deaddraws and u still counter those spell/pure/highlander decks but with the downside of filling ur own deck with those.
Well the worst thing about BLA is that it counters spell mage and pure paladin a lot harder than highlander decks. Highlanders only need to draw 1 bird. While spell mage and pure paladin need to draw both. It's a HUGE difference to shut down these types of decks. And highlander already has a lot better "bonus" cards than pure paladin. Zephrys the Great is obviously better than Lightforged Zealot and Dragonqueen Alexstrasza is obviously better than Lightforged Crusader.
I'm pretty sure they won't change the deathrattle in order to adress this issue, which is a shame. But a nerf to this card is very welcome.

They can change the deathrattle, something like putting 2 spells in your deck that summons an 1/1 albatross and draw a card when draw, like Waxadred's Candle
Albatross is one of the best 3 drops. 3 Mana 4/3 good stats can deal with most 4 drop minions and 2 trash 1/1 in your opponents decks is SO powerfull.
btw I think Alex is broken imho. Would be more balanced if the dragons cost 1 so you have to decide which dragon you want to play same turn.
Highlander cards pretty much are meant to be broken, because they apply a huge limitation to your deckbuilding. Reno was broken in some respect and so is Alex. There's nothing wrong about high risk, high reward cards, the problem is with cards, which re small risk, high reward.
P.S. As a dedicated Highlander Mage player (at least for the time being, till meta stabilizes itself), I can tell you I would happily exchange Alex for Reno.
It’s funny how everyone is talking about this card right now :D Yesterday i made a Thread about this card as well. I am also thinking that Blizzard wanted a Highlander counter (for which BLA is okay, since you just have to draw 1 albatross to get your Zephyr-Stuff working).
But if your playing Pure-Spell-Mage or Pure-Paladin you have to draw both which is literally impossible :D so im excited what the nerfs will gonna bring us

People are talking about it, because Blizzard pointed their finger at it as a nerf candidate.
2-4 albatross is not problem in your deck, problem is 20+ albatross in your deck from ress priest. Countered only by shaman with frog. Everything else? auto lose.
i experimented a lot with libram pure paladin and successfully took my decklist from b10 to dia10. but with 50% of the decks running BLA it just doesnt make sense to play that anymore. very fun deck, but no chance against warlock and priest, if they can shut down your value generation starting turn 3 or 4. early you fall behind with your 4 mana 4/2 and then you are just left with a 7 7/7 do nothing in the lategame instead of a value refill you need for control matchups.
so yeah. countering highlander decks, ok. making all the other archetypes with deck building restrictions unplayable..... sucks
but ok, i guess deck variety was not their goal anyways with albatross gala warlock and tempo demonhunter being the only decks above 50% winrate (on ranks dia4-1, source hsreplay.com)

I want it noted that I started this thread at 9:33am EST, so it was well before they announced it as a potential nerf candidate :)
I don't get why people keep bringing up Spell Druid? Like yeah drawing one less card from your Fungal Fortunes (if you draw the albatross and discard it) is bad but it's not game losing or anything. Meanwhile Spell Mage and Pure Paladin do get destroyed by this card, they have to draw both birds before their reward cards are active, like it literally rekts those 2 decks harder than it does with highlander builds, that's ridiculous. Highlander decks only need to draw 1 bird for their cards to be active, while Pure Paladin and Spell Mage need to draw both, it's absurd honestly.

Just a small note - the only card, which is affected by Albatross in Spell Mage, is Font of Power. And even if it's actually a significant hit to the card, it doesn't make it utterly useless and doesn't ruin Mage's gameplan at all. Spell Mages don't play minions by choice, not because they are forced to. And some actually do play minons - Reno the Relictologist, Kalecgos or Exotic Mountseller.

I really like this suggestion, let's see what they do as they announced yesterday after I posted this that BLA will likely receive a nerf.

Bummer that Prince Liam rotated out. Would be fun to play him currently just to annoy BLA plays :D
Watch me play :)

Yeah let's nerf a card that cost 9 mana and requires you to build your entire deck around it to even work, sacrificing consistency...
Not to mention with your idea it basically becomes a 10-drop otherwise you're just playing a vanilla 8/8 on turn 9...
Big 8+ mana drops should be gamewinningly powerful. They're not supposed to be dealt with easily.

The Amazing Reno isn't a minion, Were you referring to Reno the Relicologist?
Yeah, my bad, corrected.

And Apexis Blast, which is a big deal
Exactly.
I believe they certainly dumbfucked on releasing spell mage with this card in the pool.
