I think it's widely accepted that Living Dragonbreath is a bad card that nobody will use this time around. When I first saw it, I loved it. It's such a weird card with such a fringe application, I really wanted to make use of it... but, I just can't. Since, I couldn't make use of the effect, I figured that maybe it would be good enough as just a 3/4 Elemental. But, then I remembered Nightmare Amalgam exists.
Have you guys made him useful? Do you think he can be used when Nightmare Amalgam rotates outs a decently stated Elemental?
I believe that currently, tempo elemental mage is being seriously overlooked and underplayed (NOT cyclone mage, mind you). I think that the deck, if it was played, would be around tier 3 or 4. After the rotation, I expect the deck to start to show itself as people move on and experiment with different decks. I think that will be the best time for Living Dragonbreath to make an impact on the meta - as a filler elemental to go into elemental mage, helping mainly trigger the all-important Elemental Allies. Unfortunately for Living Dragonbreath, however, the card would likely still too weak, even in a situation such as the one I mentioned above, due to still arguably better elementals available to mage such as Violet Spellwing, Mana Cyclone, Mana Giant, and Quicksand Elemental.
All in all, I rate Living Dragonbreath a 4 out of 10 and don't think it will ever see play in its lifetime in standard.
Wait until blizzard make a better Cryostasis for shaman that cost 4 mana and gives a minion +3/+3 but also freeze it, then you ain't gonna be laughing at dragonbreath anymore
It's actually not that hard to make it stronger. Problem is if Blizzard wanna actually go that way. Remember how they half-assed freeze shaman so badly during frozen thrones?
4 mana give a minion +3/+3, even without freeze, is bad. That's actually already worse than Cryostasis and Blessing of Kings, so I'm not quite sure what you meant in your first sentence.
At its heart and core, Living Dragonbreath is just a "meh" card. Blizzard also doesn't push freeze decks much because freeze is an inherently unfun mechanic.

why are we theorycrafting a shitty arena card who is only played because its a 3 mana 3/4+ in arena
Some cards are simply not good.
They put a useless ability on it so no one could accuse them of reprinting Spider Tank. Case Closed.
