Does Bolvar get the bonus since he technically has 1 attack and gets buffed up in your hand? Perhaps maybe he'd be playable since your using your other sacrifice able 1 attack minions before you draw Hobgoblin.
out of boredom, i made a midrange paladin with hobgoblin and its certainly fun. i feel paladin works with the buffing nature the deck has and has some nice combo cards overall. thoughts? i'd have to play it to get a feel for what has to change but it atleast looks interesting.
I was trying to come up with a hobgoblin jeeves deck. I went with warrior because armor smith and acolyte of pain. not every minion is 1 attack because I thought the deck would suck like that. There are still plenty of minions who work with hobgoblin but none of them are dead weight without him. Frothing berserkers and junk bots are just to give the deck a little bit of extra reach.
Hobgoblin does NOT work with paladin hero power, muster for power, or dark whispers. hobgoblin's bonus is purely for minions you play straight from your hand.
Haha that is terrible combo. Fill your board with tokens, which is hard itself and you probably already won. The play vanish and hobgoblin for 9 mana just to have a board of 3/3 but gIves your opponent time to react.
Infinitely worse then than just savage roar. Let alone two savage roar or savage roar+force of nature.
This also applies with any spells that generate monsters like Unleash the Hounds or any monsters that generate tokens like Imp Master. The 1/1 minion has to be played from the hand. Even if you make a minion in play a 1/1, it won't work. ONLY PLAYED FROM HAND.
Warbot -- as someone else pointed out, the Enrage combo is especially good with the stat boost. Probably worth including in a Warrior Hob deck even without other Mechs.
Murloc Deck with Hobgoblin:
Hungry Crab ... if you're willing to sacrifice your own guys. Probably not worth it even with Hob synergy.

I don't see how it works with Warlock - you really need Druid and Innervate to pull it off. Adding +2/+2 to a minion really just brings them into the turn 3/4 range. Unless you can get the thing out early, it becomes a moot play because past turn 3/4 you are limited by how many cards you have more than how much mana is available. This is what happened to me in play. When I coined and got him out on turn 2, it was devastating and the opponent never recovered. When he showed up later, even when he wasn't immediately removed, the drops were underpowered for the phase of the game and the tempo conversion made no difference.

This card will be a must have for Shockadin and aggro hunter decks.
