Hello Volcanic Potion, it's nice to see you again
Holy crap this is good...
Volcanic Potion with an upside.
cheep small board clear, that can reliably only affect opponent side. Quite a nice card
I guess it can be used with Archmage Vargoth for total of 7 mana do 4 dmg - i.e. kind of Flamestrike.
Also with Wild Pyromancer for 5 mana do 3 dmg - i.e. a better Arcanosaur.
Meh, priest has a lot of OP board clears and not enough room to play them all. This doesn't have the powercreep vibe that other breaths have like the shaman or the druid one.
I'm not even sure breath of the infinite is better than Holy Ripple and that's not a card I play very often.
Yeah, say it to Volcanic Potion
It's priest, most of the time your board will be empty when you use this, it's just a volcanic potion exactly, nothing more. An old, fair, decent card in the biggest powercreep expansion/year of hearthstone in a class with way better board clears.
A 3 mana Consecration is very powerful, if you play a bit more proactively. It's not on the "insane"-level if you play do-nothing-but-kill-minions snorefest Rez Priest, but even then, it closes the gap between Spirit Lash/Holy Ripple and Mass Hysteria, that short time window where Priest is actually vulnerable to minions.
You shouldn't run all the board clears, but you should definitely have some that you can play before it's too late. I'd rather have this than Plague of Death in my deck.
i dont think the dragon part matters that much?
if you dont have the board early game it does nothing and later in the game thers better options for it.
if you have enough in the board that you care about it as a priest you should win most of the time anyway
Well. yeah, but back in the days priest played some deck that prefer board presense (like dragon or spiteful deck), so it's already not just a volcanic potion. Also let's not forget that Mass Hysteria wil leave standard in next year so priest won't have another good aoe in early- mid game
Plague of death feels so good against deathrattle cards and decks, I miss my Entomb man, I get your point but I don't think I can get rid of plague of death for a consecration, if I needed a little bit more board damage I would probably go with wild pyromancer anyway.
I think Demonwrath is the most accurate comparison. It wasn't as good as Volcanic Potion yet it was supposed to be better. But it didn't fit into the class and decks as well for a variety of reasons, it didn't close a gap.
It depends on the meta anyway, what kind and how many board clears you need, but as a control deck, you are usually better off having a few more early answers than late answers. At least that's what I think.
I agree that Demonwrath is a good comparison on a technical level, though there are still some differences. For Demonwrath, you have to play pretty much only Demons to make full use of the effect, which was never really practical, since you'd have to give up cards like Knife Juggler. And you couldn't damage your opponent's demons (as rarely as it mattered) either. With this card, you can play any type of minion as long as you have a dragon on hand, and it doesn't matter what your opponent is playing.
But more importantly, Demonwrath WAS played a lot, mostly as a cheap board clear. It is sometimes still used in Reno decks. So, even if the card wouldn't make it in Standard (and I think it will), it is probably a worthwhile addition to (Reno) Priest's arsenal in Wild.
Damn, Blizzard, where are dragons for priest? This card is ok, but I prefer minions.
There's at least a Murozond legendary coming for priest and many neutral dragons.
3 mana volcanic at worst in a class that can recover health and has weak board clears early game?

Waiting in Wild... licking their lips.
Very strong, but still not as awful as Duskbreaker was. Thank goodness.
I think Breath of the Infinite is far more powerful than most in this thread are giving it credit for. Priests arguably have some of if not the best late game board clears in the game but have consistently lacked powerful early game aoe. Holy Ripple and Spirit Lash were just weaksauce and required to be combo'd with some form of Spell Damage or Velen to be effective. This card does not have that detriment. The difference between a 1 dmg aoe and a 2 dmg aoe is incredibly significant and can much more reliably remove the wide boards early on that priests struggled against in an attempt to reach those late game removals. Even better when you can take advantage of the card's upside, limiting the damage to only your enemy's board.
Now while I agree that Shaman's breath card is a far superior removal tool, shaman have always had access to powerful early game aoe. Priests on the other hand I don't think have ever had a stand-alone aoe that costs 3 or less that has done more than 1 damage. That is until now. And I think the reason for that is because of the ever present threat of having priests become completely dominant in board control for the entire game, forcing the priest player to rely on single target removal and efficient trading. That all changes with this card.
We'll have to wait and see what other cards are in store but I think this card has the potential to be meta-defining. In a sense, I actually think priests playing this card may actually help shape the meta, preventing ultra greedy zoo from becoming prevalent simply because Priests would crap on them so hard with this one 3 cost card. So, I went ahead and voted Meta Defining. Been waiting for this kind of removal for a very long time.
These are bad early game AOE, it must have been 3 damage
