Just because for me shaman have enogh "3 dmg" removal/hit (lighting bolt, rockbitter weapon, forked lighting + wrath of air, stormforged + searing, searing + flametongue). That's only thing why for me this spell looks unsatisfying.
Edit: And i know, that's only 25% chance for that hit, and when you combo it for example with weapon you're lose nothing and have chance for save 1 hit, when crackle hit for more. That's nice for that card i must give that.
this card is kinda even with Frostbolt, since it doesn't have the freeze effect and has an overload, but instead has 3/4 chance of dealing 4+ damage, and sometimes it can even be better than Fireball and make shaman with a burst damage potential in par with mage.

We can compare it to Shadow Bolt which is only 4 damage for 3 without face reach, or for Kill Command, which is 5 damage spell for 3, that need conditions on board be accomplished to have this damage rate. And dont forget that 2+1 is better than 3.

If RNG card have enough value it would be played despite some unreliability. Ragnaros and this card is good example of it.
Pretty good card. On average, this is 3 mana for 4 damage, which isn't that terrible. Everything beyond that is gravy. The RNG aspect is a killer for this card though. Its just not consistent enough to see constructed play over something like Lightning Bolt, which costs 1 less and will always deal 3. This does give Shaman even more burst potential though.

I have been running a MIracle Shaman of late. Basically I am preparing for the new cards, so this miracle shaman is research. I am very happy to have crackle in my current deck! Might replace a Far Sight (though, I am telling you, Far Sight in a miracle shaman is straight up awesome...wins games if it goes late game). The current issue with my Miracle Shaman is that I tend to have to use my low mana spells early to control the board if I don't pull my lowbie minions. This, of course, leads me to not have many cards for the miracle seuqence. A card like this will be very welcome because if I pull it early, it is fabulous removal for those early removals. If I pull it late, it is great for sequencing the damage on a miracle run. Seriously, this will be a great addition. Of course, the big thing is what does it replace. I think the deck may get more magic oriented, which will be weird to see how it turns out.
If i need to kill a Daz'Tango, a Yeti or a Belcher i am not going to be using crackle, im going to be using Lavaburst. Its just that simple. This card is for killing off 4 health minions or going straight to the face. However, considering if you have any spell power out this becomes a *4*-*7* which makes it much more useful than Lavaburst, mainly because you now know youll be able to kill off 5 health with less RNG and if you do go to the face its cheaper and could hit harder.
Overall, it aint bad but should not be relied on for removal.

lava burst is a top tier shaman card. and you don't waste it on a freakng flame imp, when the deck runs lightning bolt, rockbiter, feral spirit and flametongue with that hero power and haunted creepers. lava burst is an answer on the level of Hex, nothing is in a good situation on the board after taking 5 damage, and finally, lava burst is a great finisher card to deal that last chunk of damage too. it has a lot of use as it is. it's the high burn card to complement the low burn of lightning bolt.
crackle is a frost bolt with more potential damage to the face. that's all I can treat it as, in a high tier judgment of playing it.
