Hey man, Deathrattle Rogue is still nearly rattling around.
A Sap stuck to a mediocre body still has even odds of getting played, especially against decks that really don't wanna risk a buffed minion getting tossed.
It's crap because your opponent can bounce his battlecry minions. In a rogue mirror give your opponent evil miscrant back to his hand is a disaster
I'd like to kindly suggest, and I'm not trying to be coarse, that you don't play this card in the mirror matchup when you feel your opponent might play a Miscreant.
It's not hard to wait until he plays an Edwin, Rush Lackey, and yeet his big boy off the board in most Lackey decks. If you worry is that the card sucks when you play badly... then not playing the card badly is a strong counter to that worry.

The power level of this is pushed heavily, I think you need to get your card evaluation seriously adjusted to think in that one narrow scenario it makes the card poor. This will go in multiple archtypes much like Miscreant does, bouncing a Giant back to their hand with a turn 3 necrium blade at the very least.

If you thought you knew what you think I know, then you'd know I knew you knew I know.
If its a battlecry then I would play it. But with a deathrattle your opponent can play well around it.
Deathrattle rogue will maybe a thing in this meta but I am not so sure about it.
Bouncing a giant back will not solve the problem. With second conjurer u will face next turn the exact same board as before. Maybe worse because he has second chance of rolling the taunt giant.....
If you look at this card's downside as your opponent can play around this or reuse a powerful battlecry, I think those downsides are not as big of a factor in this card's playablity, but there are some interesting things this card could do. For instance say this dies to a Mechanical Whelp If this was played second you'll sap the Mechanical Dragon. And your opponent may think twice about just dropping a big minion down while this is on the field.

Obviously this card has good synergy with the Necrium cards, and we can try it there. I suspect it won't do enough. But it's worth a try.
Obviously this card has NO place in Tempo Rogue, which doesn't even currently run Sap. Obviously playing this on turn 4 vs Warrior is horrid because of Militia Commander and Dyn-o-matic. That is just one example. There are a ton of strong Battlecry minions in the game. Which is why Tempo Rogue is not running Sap in the first place.

Poor man's Vanish. Still going to see play.
So powerful
Slower and random Sap
This would be OP as Battlecry, as Deathrattle not so much, but still can work out with something like Necrium Blade
Annoying effects with returning to hand. Vanish and Sap should increase in cost.
Vanish from 6 to 7 and Sap from 2 to 4.
Boring, but fine. Notably works well with Captain Hooktusk.

Very good minion, works well with Anka, the Buried, Captain Hooktusk and Necrium Vial.

Sick tempo on this card, can force bad trades easily to get round the deathrattle.

Goblin lackey and hooktusk make this pretty good.
It's another sort of vanilla-y pirate that doesn't necessarily need pirate synergies to work too so it makes Raiding Party better too.
Ok with Captain Hooktusk I guess only if you can kill the minion you don't want to bounce
