a 2 mana rare card is more powerful than the highlander legendary cards revealed. Hmm. Maybe because those legendary cards were meant for Wild and not Standard. Which is fine.
This card though, holy crap. Anyone who knows card games knows that this is absolutely powerful. There are so many combos in Standard even without seeing all the new cards....
Dark Possession - 3 mana total - Discover a Demon and draw 2 copies of your most powerful card in your hand.
Mortal Coil - 3 mana total - Draw a card, then draw 2 copies of your most powerful card in hand.
Grim Rally - 3 mana total - Buff your board and draw 2 copies of your ...blah blah
Evil Genius - 4 mana total - Get 2 Lackeys AND draw 2 copies of your best card
And here is a crazy combo....
You need the following...Expired Merchant (2), Doubling Imp (3), Soul Infusion (1) and Evil Genius (2). So the idea is that Doubling Imp is the left most card in hand and highest cost too. You play Soul Infusion. Doubling Imp is now 4/4. You play Expired Merchant, then Evil Genius on the merchant. You discard the 4/4 doubling imps, and then get 2 of them at 4/4, along with 2 Lackeys.
Rat Catcher - 5 mana total - Rush minion at 4/3, draw 2 of your most powerful cards in hand
another combo here...High Priestess Jeklik as your highest cost card in hand and left most in hand. Play Soul Infusion to get a 5/6 Lifesteal and Taunt Jeklik. Play Expired Merchant, discarding Jeklik. Because of the Text, you get 2 more in your hand immediately. Then when merchant dies, you get 2 more in your hand. THAT'S 4 Jekliks that are 5/6 in hand. And what turn can you pull this off? Play Soul Infusion on turn 3 (if jeklik cooperates). Turn 4, you play Expired Merchant and then Evil Genius. Turn 5, you have a 5/6 Taunt with lifesteal and 3 more in hand to do again and again.
How about Omega Agent anyone? What about having so much value that your opponent could not possibly deal with all of these minions?
Could this make Darkest Hour good in Standard?
Dr. Morrigan value? Soulwarden infinite value?
Blood Troll Sapper and Merchant discarding Merchant, rinse and repeat?
This card has so much potential because it only costs 2 mana AND it discards very specific cards. This is a discard mechanic I liked before when it was your lowest cost card. Random discard was stupid and felt bad. This makes it powerful and potentially abused with combos.
Da Undatakah decks?
Leeroy, Soul Infusion, Expired Merchant. 16 damage on turn 10 with Faceless. Then do it again the following turn.
High Inquisitor Whitemane on turn 10, with Mortal Coil? Trade your board in, play Merchant with HIW in hand. Mortal Coil it. Play 1 of 2 of your HIW and summon your board again. INCLUDING Expired Merchant! What? Is Warlock the new resurrect class?
I'm just gonna make a deck built around hand buffing and high priestess jeklik. Just makes sure she's your most expensive card and if you play this then you turn 1 Jeklik into 4 when the merchant dies.
This card seems really powerful. Not sure how all of this will come together in Standard, but it sure looks like it could be nuts in Wild.
If Warlock can survive long enough in standard, then Archivist Elysiana comes to mind. Can't wait to see the rest of the reveal for Warlock in Standard now!
This looks really exciting. Very much usable in every mid-range, control warlock imo. I like it.
Feels like an understated darkshire librarian with a more consistent effect
The only card revealed so far that makes me want to play it now. I love it.
Maybe a good target for EVIL Genius
as a player with almost 2k wins on warlock i can definitely say this is broken af. Meta-defining for sure
Im cumming...
Seems kinda busted in wild where warlock has lots of big bombs that would be amazing to duplicate (n'zoth, gul'dan, mal'ganis)

This seems like it is probably very good.
This is the stuff a control warlock needs. A few more and we won't be stuck with zoo tier 4 only anymore

This is a really cool card. Could see some play in both midrange and control depending on what other support the class gets.
META-DEFINING!!!!
Now definitely Blizzard will NEVER, EVER nerf Big Priest... sadly
what the fuck does big priest have to do with a warlock card.
you people need to get off this meme, man.

This card can see play even in zoolock! Put two cards on your hand is always strong, really good card!
But playing a 2-mana 2/1 is bad in Zoo Lock. Mega bad.
Anyone knows what is the interaction with Bran? Will it give you 4 cards (2 of each discarded card)?
ok, I'll explain you, since you can't read between the lines:
Big Priest is an anti-control deck.
This card Expired Merchant is best suited for CONTROL WARLOCK
did I make myself clear?
Btw, you don't need to be rude. <3
In wild most likely, yes. But in standard not yet. We will have to see if warlock gets any tools to stabiize to get to their late game.
Always expect the unexpectable!
