Well, I am a little disappointed because this is yet another RNG hero power. This is playable and possibly very powerful. I just find the Casino Mage cards fun but frustrating. Much like pulling a lever of a Slot Machine. It's fun to watch the dials spin and the sounds go blip blap. The results are usually frustrating because nothing happens for awhile, until it does.
Well, let's hope that not all the rest of the quests have an RNG hero power.
It looks like the best quest so far. Sometimes these spells might not be the best but at least there are minions that can synergize with casting any spell so I think it's pretty decent. But we will see.
So now mage has a permanent Primordial Glyph but you can't choose the spell. It'll for sure make people mad and blizzard keeps printing random RNG fiesta bullshit. It doesn't feel as powerful as you could get terrible spells or spells that won't help you when you generate them but still, having a button that pretty much draws you a card and reduces its cost by 2 every turn seems pretty solid, not meta breaking but will for sure see play.
About the card, it is very boring but people will find a way to cheese it with Mana CycloneSorcerer's Apprentice (which is calling for a nerf to not let cards cost below (1) or make it that the first 1-3 cards cost (1) less)
Chittering Tunneler and other card damage your face because Warlock has the strongest hero power.

You saw the Shaman one right? O_o
Having double battlecries is nice but I don't really see this being that good. Are you really going to build a deck around battlecries? Because you need those minions not only to complete the quest but also to make use of your new hero power. Mage's quest is more flexible because you don't really have to have synergies with spells. Of course having cheap spells for Mana Cyclone or Archmage Antonidas is great but if you don't have them in hand/play your hero power is not useless. It still generates cards that can possibly help you right away. Shaman's hero power requires to have specific minions in hand to even use it in the first place so unless you run 20+ battlecries in your deck it's not going to always be the case. Battlecries are not that strong either. Unless I missing something.

I don't know why people keep bitching about this. It is clearly and explicitly a part of the Mage identity, and has been for a very long time.
Mages get random spells, Rogues get random cards from other classes, and Priests copy random cards from their opponent. That's not going to change anytime soon. Don't like it? No one's forcing you to stay.

That's a bit of a mischaracterization, especially in Mage. There are very few Mage spells that equate to "nothing happens."
In fact, I love Mage because it is one of the more skill-intensive classes. You have to think on your feet. You don't get a nice, perfect flowchart that tells you what you need to do from turn to turn.
I think this quest might end up being better than some give it credit for. Yes, its another RNG card effect, but Mage has really good spells. Even Pyroblast is immediately playable if you get it from this.
Playing 10 spells also isn't that hard (but if this spell doesn't see play, I can see it being buffed by having the number lowered). And honestly, what else are you going to do on turn 1?
I am the only one thinking 10 spells is too much? You already win or lost in that point of the game, the few things don't make me call this card crap tier is the 2/3 draw a card because deny the card disavantage, the lack of a hero card for mage and the twin spells but 6 or maximum 8 spells will be much more reasonable.
Shaman quest have a more powerful effect and is way easier to complete.

We need to wait to see the whole set, 10 does seem like a lot. But with Twinspell and cards likeBanana Buffoon, it's probably doable. We honestly won't know until we see the whole set and play the whole set.

might be a bit to slow. since it also denies 1 starter card. also mage has alot of face damage problems so i doubt playing control mage really works here without an end game strat like luna pocket galaxy.
gotta see how this works out fore i can see if its good.

Reno doesn’t really seem Mage like to me.. am I missing something guys?
When comparing this to open the waygate the flavour isn’t there for me. But cool effect I must say, very RNG oriented

It is not much, but it's
honest workanti-warrior value generator. It's same story as Archivist Elysiana - simple tech card, not shiny by itself, but with what it brings to the table.
IF boom-warrior still be a thing in the next expansion this card deck for sure will be staple of tier 2 deck. Maybe even tier 1 .
For now 'very good'
how original....

can you run this and the other mage quest at the same time? or does playing a second quest without completing the first do something funky?
edit: checked the wiki, a deck running both enter the waygate and this is impossible

Saying mage cards will be random is like saying the next BMW will have wheels.
it's a sure thing, mage always deal with randomness
Banana minion, you have a job to do.
