I'm surprised how some people think and evaluate cards. This cards is great, but you only hate it because it is different, and doesn't have "immediate" tempo or board control value. Spare parts are great little things that will help you in so many ways. To stall, to make favourable trades, to use your unused mana, to combine them with Auctioneer, Pyro, Antonidas... So many uses, and yet people only see them throught classic good legendary minions.
good luck pulling off turn 10 four card combos, while using none through the game
Do you have any idea what you are talking about? Just because you have a turn ten combo doesn't mean the rest of the deck does nothing until turn ten. This is silly. Also, do you know what a freeze mage does? Stall. Not that you would have to stall to include a turn ten combo in your deck in the first place, but you can.
I like this card. At this point in the game and in the decks it would be played in getting the spare parts are actually good. This card is a ogre with one less stat that in return generates card value in the control matchups it also trades with belcher and loatheb without dying. The spare parts are pretty shit but losing one stat and getting two off them is fine, boulder fist ogre is almost good enough to be played in constructed so this guy should be good enough.
I not sure if Spare Parts will be so good to justify him. Maybe abusing cheap spare part with Violet Teacher, Gadgetzan Auctioneer or Archmage Antonidas, but I really think he will not take place for the actual 6 drop legendaries we already have.
If i had to choose between this card and Ogre on what to put in my deck (in this meta) i would seriously have to think about it. Ogre would at least challenge a spectral knight or a guardian of kings...or druid of the claw. Common card : |
this card is not legendary by any means.
edit : and for sure expect more 6hp minions in GvG
Best legendary in the new expansion yet - my opinion.
Why do you think that? It has ok stats but it's only special effect is the Battlecry and Deathrattle. Spare parts are worth like a third of a card each. Unless he's used in a specific miracle deck, he won't be played.
Pillar you'll never win against the nay-sayers. If people can't see this as Legendary quality, they'll get what they deserve (Nozdormu) and then realize that one-off 'special' abilities aren't all they're cracked up to be.
I'm not that impressed with this card. It's not that it's a bad card, I just don't feel it's that good of a card either. I don't see any scenario I'd replace a Cairne or Sylvanas with Toshley personally but that may change as the meta does. I feel Toshley is not much better than a Boulderfist Ogre. As a legendary, I feel it should be significantly better. A rare legendary card you're restricted to only having 1 of should be considerably better than a free card everyone starts with in their collection IMO.
That being said, in Arena this card has some pretty solid value. I like Boulderfist Ogre in arena so obviously I'm going to like Toshley. In constructed though? Hard to say. Unless there's spell synergy within the deck, I don't see him being played. In spell synergy decks, he's maybe 'okay' and even then I'm not too sure. Due to the RNG nature of spare parts, I feel he won't see much constructed play overall.
Ask yourself a simple question. Would I be willing to spend 1600 dust to craft this guy? For me, the answer is absolutely not and in my eyes, that makes him a mediocre legendary. The best legendary cards are the ones you actively save your dust for so you can get them in your deck asap and I haven't seen one so far in GvG. For me personally, I'm still waiting to be truly WOW'd by a GvG legendary.
By himself he isn't an amazing card, but combine with all we have seen released... he could be a small part of a whole. 5/7 isn't that bad of a body, and with 2 spare parts hes definitely usable.
All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible. - T. E. Lawrence
I'm surprised to see so many people down on Toshley! Spare Parts aren't a full card, but he still adds two to your hand, and in Constructed they offer a lot of synergy with cards like Gadgetzan Auctioneer and Violet Teacher. 5/7 stats are excellent for the cost and only half of his effect is a Deathrattle, so it is harder to remove it with a Silence. It trades favorably with everything currently out at 5 mana, since we have no 5/6 yet that we know of, and even trades favorably with popular 6-drops like TBK, Cairne and Sylvanas. It is going to be quite a solid option.
In Arena, this card will be high end but below top tier, but mostly due to its competition. It is a better Ogre, sacrificing 1 attack for some CA + utility, and Ogre is already one of the best picks. I wouldn't pick him over something like an Onyxia on a neutral state, but I feel he is just a tier below the best Legendaries.
Bear in mind though, we haven't seen the full set of cards from GvG yet so it's hard to assess the full value of Spare Parts without knowing if there are further synergies. Fingers crossed for a minion that gets buffed each time one gets played ala Undertaker!
I actually see shaman abusing this guy the most, buffing totems with spare parts or hell give cloak to al akir or giving him +1 attack or switching his health and attack, so many possibilities with spare parts, I cant wait.

@Pilleri - why spider tank?

Such a cool card. The body value is sick, and the 1-2 spare parts work well with a card of this size.

Comparing to other popular 6-mana legendaries: I think this one is better than Cairne but worse than Sylvanas.

Druid is globally getting big buff in GvG form what I have seen... Ramp mech or Miracle Druid... The nature O bot will rise against you!
Be there, or be squared!
Anyone else find it interesting the druid card released along side this one has specifically better card text and you can run two of them?
What. The. Hell?

I made a deck containing him and using what he has to help the whole. Check it out here : http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/121818-tempo-control-spare-part-druid-new-archetype
Keep in mind it is just a prototype deck, and idea... click the link for the writeup. But for all those saying hes useless or bad, I disagree.

King Mukla will see more play with all these spare parts!
