Hey all, with 3/5 callbacks being revealed (Omega for warrior, Forbidden for priest, and unidentified for rogue) its time to theory what the remaining two are.
Shaman is probably going to be echo (as its the only mechanic from WW that hasnt been adopted to the main game or banished to wild), and probably a spell to fit hagatha's schtick.
As for Rafaam its tricky. League of Explorers was a refreshing time for the game but the only real new mechanic was Discover, a mechanic that has become part of the main game's design space. Other than that 1 of decks (they arent bringing this back for a callback non-leggo) or the monkey, there wasnt anything LoE could bring back. Could Rafaam's callback potentially be in tone ready than mechanical? Maybe try the DoT effect again (Curse of Rafaam)?

What do you think?
Warlock may get a singleton card like reno or kazakus? Reno was one of the defining cards of that set.
Thinking more about it, it could be the 2nd legendary, they never said the callback cards were just epics or lower. So maybe we could see a return to renolock. I personally hope not, but who knows.

It doesn't need to be. I once designed a non-legendary singleton card
3 mana 3/3. Battlecry: If your deck contains no duplicates, gain +1/+1 and draw a card.
You could run two of those, since when you play this there can be at most one more in your deck. It would be a nice incentive to play a (mostly) singleton deck without having a broken effect.
EDIT: But yeah, rafaam is clearly a throwback as well.
Lazy if true
Wow, Lazy really is the new buzzword around here, isn't it? So Rafaam is lazy because it is "just like golden monkey", but not adding ANOTHER "lazy" throwback card is also "lazy." The bomb mechanic is "lazy". Reusing marin's treasures is "lazy"...
giving everyone else a callback and a character leggo but saying rafaam is both a callback and a character is lazy because they could think of another mechanic to bring back. Im not talking about effect, Im just talking about the hobbling of design giving the rest of the team 2 of these cards and warlock only 1.
There aren't really any other unique mechanics to be brought back from LoE. It had Discover and shuffling cards into decks. They gave Rafaam the monkey effect, try not to let your OCD take hold. Each villain doesn't ABSOLUTELY require a callback effect on a separate card.

They said somewhere that Rafaam is his own throwback card, leaving just Shaman.

I mean... come on.
Yeah, some someone from hearthstone confirmed it
Excited for the Joust and Inspire cards!

Inspire: reveal a minion in each deck, if yours costs more, upgrade your hero power, then summon a bunch of secrets all at once.
I think that about covers all of the grand tournament.

but I love consistency! How will I sleep at night!
