Please don’t draw favorable comparisons to stonehill. This is trash compared to it.
stonehill provided two levels of defense. This is an aggressive 2-mana body on a 3 mana card that doesn’t discover taunt.
This card might see some play on the greediest mages. The closer comparison is Kabal Courrier.
Stonehill stomps the ever loving shit out of this.
Kabal courrier saw a lot of play and any sort of stat boost is significant on card generator.
I actually think it would be pretty average with 2/2 stats, but 3/2 unconditional discover in a specific pool of mostly good cards, it will see play for sure in either aggressive or control decks.
Kabal Courrier saw reasonable play. But it was better than this card.
1 attack is probably insignificant. But Kabal let you discover spells and outside of the class for answers to the particular match up.
Mage minions, for the most part, aren’t good without a heaping spoonful of synergies. I think the pool from which this discovers, while limited (usually a good thing) is worse.
That said, hand mage. I forgot about it. This may see play simply because it’s self replacing in that deck.
This card doesn't seem that strong at all. Considering you wouldn't play this in a tempo Mage deck as you wouldn't want to play a 3/2 for 3 mana, this would only go in a Controlish Mage deck. And there aren't enough crazy strong Mage minions that it would be worth playing so you can get Jan'alai or Antonidas maybe 1 out of 10 games.... It is playable, but that's about it.

The funny thing right now the changes to get Antonidas would be 1/5 !!!!!!

That could certainly be true, but will the Mage deck that actually contains Messenger Raven have a 3 mana or less spell to play? Maybe.... Maybe not. If you want to play a Tony deck, you make a Tony deck.
Also pulling Tony from Raven doesn't even guarantee a win with the 1/5 (20%) rate.
I just see this card as meh.... It's OK, but that's about it. Maybe there will be more Mage minions to come, but as of right now, I'm not sold.
it depends on how good are mage minions in the current standar moment, for what i saw today the poll is not grat but isn't terrible either, (add the raven, kagdhar and kalegos to the poll and still decent out come, the worst things you can get are mana wyrm and spirit of dragonhawk, the rest are meh to great, and everything depends on the context of the match, against a token deck the spirit may be more useful than other things.
Over all, remember that those cards which you are making comparisons with, are rotating out, an entire op year is rotating, and will only remain a none relevant year of cards, and the new set + classic and basic, so, i'm not sure of how much, but i'm pretty sure that this will see play.

I also think the beast tag is worth something and Untamed Beastmaster is largely underrated in both hunter and non hunter decks.
Kabal Courier was mainly used in Reno decks to fill a spot and "maybe" get some extra value. Stonehill is FAR superior to Courier and Messenger!
No I don't think stonehill is better in mage and I would never play it in reno mage while I still play kabal courier. 3/2 is more threatening than 1/4 to begin with. And mage minions including all the legendary ones have more chances to have a surprise factor, significant impact or synergy with your deck than neutral taunt minions with only 1 legendary in the standard pool. Obviously against aggro deck stonehill is a lot better, because double taunt, there's no debate here. So let's just talk about a normal meta where 30% of decks are aggro and mage is naturally good against aggro. I always thought it was weird to play stonehill in mage anyway, mage has no good taunt and really good sustain, never liked it, tar creeper was far superior imo.
I think this is quite underrated. Mage has a number of useful minions that you can discover. And as others have said before, it's nicely statted with a tutored discover effect. I'll be surprised if this doesn't see play.
Mage minions are generally very good. Mage is going into a strong midrange/value direction and I must say I like it. With the current pool you have to very unlucky to discover a useless card. This card gave Hex Lord Malacrass a reason to exist. This card's purpose is to give you access to resources that are inconvenient to draw early without actually putting them into the deck.
It can also give you solution to problems when you do not draw a specific card you may require, it is a good card in any elemental deck, as you can pop out extra copies of synergy cards OR cards that are very strong and useful in certain situations that elemental decks are not good at handling (an example: a win condition) Malacrass is the only minion you can discover that cannot be summoned in the same turn at turn 10 Antonidas is a plausible option if you are playing 0 mana spells like (the discount elemental one for example, which could be just useful to turn into a fireball sometimes).
This is a very strong card in a control meta.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Remember playing Control Shaman with Reincarnate shenanigans? No? It was fun, here's a refresher!
if you want some value and flexibility regarding the matchup then I can see this. But that would be usefull in a reno style deck and mage doesn't really have that in standard at the moment. Let's wait and see what happens in the meta
Imho this is actually a really good card. It might not always give you an amazing minion like Hex Lord Malacrass, Archmage Antonidas or Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk, but extra resources are always valuable. However, just like with the mage epic, my main problem is that control/value mage doesn't have enough good sustaining options for now - they will lose Frost Lich Jaina and the Arcane Artificer after all.
You could get Hexlord and refill your hand later in the game. If this minion started in your opening hand, you could get lucky and do it again.
I think this is a solid card, and would have slotted right into the Odd Mage deck. But with that rotating and the 3 mana Cat going way, Mage decks will want some sort of replacement.

It's not Stitched Tracker level but this card is OP

As most mage minions are battlecry or persistent effects, you will get something semi-useful every time.
The question isnt "is it good" the question is "is it good enough"
For arena, yes.

Value Bird is Value. Probably good enough post rotation but not so much after that.
Oh, Lethal - where did you go? I miss you all the time.
You guys are forgetting its only a Common card.
It's really good considering the other 3 drops which are rotating out.
Rusty Recycler
Ironic. It could recycle others, but not itself.

Leyline Manipulator synergy for Wild.
Low Tempo, but the fact you get to choose is valuable.
The fact that there are almost no bad mage minions make this extremely potent. You can low roll but it s extremely unlikely.
It s a bit slow, though. Most mage minion are also pretty beefy, and more fit to midrange decks ... Especially since the wyrm nerf.
I think it s much better than kabal courrier, but it only saw play in renomage ( in mage). Not sure if it will see play, but it s a good card.

Lots of good minions for mage because of the limited pool. Very pretty birb.
This card can get you a Khadgar or Hex Lord Malacrass or Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk so yes, I think it will see play.
