It's not that great. I'm waiting for other sustain cards in the set. If Control Mage is viable/competitive in the next expansion then its great. Otherwise, It's just DUST.
It's also not an auto-craft imo. The effect is not game-winning for a 10 mana.
The card is overhyped because it's cool and a major character in wow lore but that's as far as it goes.
A 4/12 Dragon, an extra spell, and a free spell, with a chance for even more free spells; a solid deal. With all the expensive, powerful Mage spells in active use, there's a good chance this guy will help out a lot.
Pure control mage of course may not survive til playing it because of losing Jaina and a lot control tools.
However, dragon control mage exists and it’s pretty good actually since it is much more likely to have board/tempo. It’s like tier3 now, but with Kalecgod it may rise up if neutral heal in the next xpac is good.
Too bad quest is rotating out, Kalecgod+Extraturn and 2 Pyroblast or w/e seems fun especially when you have board.
I could see the combo of luna's pocket galaxy, alexstrasza, malygos, kalecgos, pyroblast being an amazing OTK but would be inconsistent to say the least.
Those arguing that this is bad because "10 mana cards should win you the game" - Hearthstone is trying to move away from cards like that win the game on the spot, because getting to turn 10 and having a 10 drop in your hand is a stupid reason to win a game of Hearthstone. Take Bloodreaver Gul'Dan as an example of a 10 mana card that either immediately won the game upon being played, or enabled the Warlock to turn a corner and seal the game completely in a huge number of cases. The game is evolving beyond retarded stuff like that.
This is a great card. Solid body for sticking, value-oriented stats and battlecry, pays for itself when played and threatens to snowball late game tempo if left unchecked. Fair and balanced card with an appropriate mana cost.
"at 10 mana this doesn't win the game so it's bad and won't see play"
Do people really want a card that wins the game purely by virtue of costing 10 mana ? Can you even name one card that does that besides pre nerf yogg?
No, a 10 mana card doesn't need to win the game on its own.
Now if you consider Kalecgos can actually compete against other super strong 10 drops like N'zoth, Bloodreaver, Zul'jin, and it's just a minion that is almost standalone viable due to its battlecry and requires very little deck support, how is is a bad card again ?
It will absolutely see play, if not in Standard (if blizzard pushes aggro mage or smorc meta or something) then in Wild. It's just good enough to be competitive, it really is.
See, I know a lot of people are talking about the Dragon Roar buff, sometimes jokingly, but it actually does seem pretty significant.
Temporus is rotating out and that was obviously a terrible roll, Sindragosa is rotating out and that was also kind of a terrible roll for Warrior, the tokens could get you some nice cards but it was also a bit slow for questionable payoff, there's better cards you want to roll. Sleepy Dragon is out and that wasn't a very good roll, you'd rather have Ysera. And Bone Drake is out but it's honestly better to cut out the Bone Drake middle man and just find yourself a nice Dragon card instead without going through the 6 mana 6/5. And then this very strong Dragon rotates in that Warrior would love to be able to play.
I didn't even consider it before, but this whole set rotation is one giant buff to Dragon's Roar just for filtering out all of these sub-optimal possibilities. And Dragon Warrior already looks to climb the ranks with Baku dying a death.
You're also losing Primordial Drake, but the gain seems to be better overall, and there do exist board states where Primordial Drake isn't really that good of a card for you.

I am not so sure about it being mega-super strong in the meta. 10 mana seems a tricky spot. But this will definitely be a game winning card in Arena.
To be great is to be misunderstood.
This card will be crazy-nuts in Wild Big Mage, where FLJ and such will still be around.

This card is a step in the right direction but for a "magestone" the class need much more broken cards.
They nerfed/hofed the class very hard, give a lot of crap spells in recent expansions and the strong DK is gone...
One powerful legendary 10 manas dragon alone is not enough to save Jaina.
The only card of this first batch I have really high expectations for.

Can’t see a world in which this is playable.
Release the Kraken!
Great card. But not meta defining. So many meta defining votes
If you have a deck idea might as well go full ham on it.
I think, Quests will goes to the hall of fame when Rise of Shadows come. :/
But its a great card already, and Mage archetype will be one of the top meta deck again. :)
Always F2P not P2W !

Ahhhhh my first WoW server many many many moons ago.
Sure Seance on this and then finalize your turn with Forbidden Words.
Dragon Roar buff lol lol lol
Looks like a really fun card. If I'm not lucky enough to open one, it's a 100% craft for me.
