You all are trying very hard to make this card work. But it's just not that good. Maybe casual for Shaman players intrigued by the mechanic. That's about all you'll get out of it. IMO, this has been the worst card revealed so far.
Aye i just test this card with proxy deck. Aggro decks will destroy you, it perform very bad with midrange and control. No way you can make a deck competitive with that card at moment. We will see if remaining GvG cards will change that.
Too many times you got stuck with big minions without ancestor, or ancestor in hand and only spells in hand. Without search/draw power, you cannot make a deck around it.
You may have saved yourself 8 damage, but you also saved your opponent 8 mana. This will often not be a good trade, and Hexing Rag is one of the better of these scenarios.
If Shaman gets a really OP minion that has a really costly coming into play effect when playing it normally (e.g. similar to how Deathwing makes you discard your hand), then this card may be worth it.
Are you seriously analyzing this card as it was supposed to turn games into coinflips? Don't disappoint me the people of Hearthpwn!
Only way this card could work is to combine it with something like malygos, in a deck with little to no minions. 4 mana gives you +5 spellpower and you have 6 mana left. As much as I hate the card, there might more to crackle than we think after all. It will be literally possible to make a viable shaman deck with only spells (zeus deck).
This card is not about RNG, it is about cheating your way into dropping a big legendary. It doesn't matter if your opponent drops a ragnaros when you:
4 - Ancestors Call (while only malygos is in hand, since you played your other minions before).
2 - Lightning Bolt x 2
4 - Crackle x 2
= 6 + (6to12) + 4*5 = one turn kill ---> enjoy your free rag bro
It doesn't have to be those spells exclusively. Zeus shaman has all kinds of burst spells. It is like deadly shot. You manipulate the board to your liking so your 3 mana removal can remove something valuable. You don't just use it and pray it hits an ogre instead of 2 spectral spiders.
I could actually see defensive value here. You may force your opponent to expose their alex, alokir, BGH, Soulpriest, Auctioneer, etc etc at super inopportune times (many times you know when they are only holding these). Realize by doing this, you may be taking away their win condition while also potentially putting something nice on your board. I feel like this card can be spectacular at times due to this although somewhat situational. Against aggro, you hope to use it more offensively, for instance dropping an early alokir for cleanup (so you stay alive if not holding lightning storm) and they drop a harvest golem.
Could this card work in a zeus type of deck? 22-26 spells/weapons, malygos and 2 gadgetzans...
If you just want to drop a malygos to burst the opp down, what the opp drops is irrelevant.
Yeah, slickriptide, what you said.
Which is why I am proud to be playing a miracle shaman and sticking around rank 12 :)
MIRACLE SHAMAN! lolz
(prolly great deck for ancestor's call)
