"Baku and Genn are powerful cards that have promoted new strategies since their introduction in the metagame. Those strategies have been more prevalent than we’d intended in Standard, and we felt that they might end up overshadowing what we’re going to introduce in the Year of the Dragon. In order for set rotation to breathe new life into Standard and maintain overall health of the ladder, we are rotating Baku and Genn into the Hall of Fame a year earlier than normal."
This is probably the only way it could go. Re-designing these cards was going to completely change what they were. And it would probably lead to a host of new problems.
I am particularly glad to see this because Odd Paladin and Odd Warrior are oppressive hero powers on their respective sides of the aggro/control spectrum. No aggro was ever going to be better than Odd Paladin. And no control was ever going to be better than Odd Warrior.
I don't like it. The point of rotations is that problematic cards rotate out eventually. The point of Hall of Fame is to get rid of Classic cards that are oppressive and would never rotate out otherwise.
If a card with expiration date is so terribly designed you feel like Hearthstone can't take another year with it, you should probably butcher it instead of leaving it as it is in just a lesser mode.
For anyone counting, we've had DKs, Jade Idol, Barnes and Spellstones in Standard, and none of them were bad enough to be rotated earlier. It's a mistake to leave something like this changeless if you are trying to get rid of it anyway.

Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
does it still work that you will get the full 3200 dust for them and then you can also disenchant them for 1.6k each?
As long as the HoF works this time like it did with the last round few rounds, yes. I plan on crafting golden versions just for this. It's a huge value in dust and more people should save for this every year.

No, not at all. Disenchant cost is the normal 1/4th of crafting value. You only get the dust for the two (or one if leg) most expensive copies of the respective card.

No, you "only" get teh crafting cost without disenchanting your copies. If you DE your copies, you will get the usual 1/4th dust (1/8th if it is common).
"Craft the best legendarys from the first expansion of the year because you can use for full 2 years in Standard" they said.
This make no sense and please, don't reply me with BS like "But you get full refund..." because cards are crafted with some others in mind, the mage legendary who summon Ragnaros for example become a lot worse because this and no one will get 1.600 dust back for crafted it.

Best news of the month, although I feel bad for the Wild mode - this card will plague it forever
Can someone borrow me 6400 dust for the golden copies ;-)

wait, I thought it was already rotating in April?

At first I was like "but they will be rotated out" and then I realize they wouldn't. Good move!
I love the free dust.
If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.

Not sure why people are saying this is bad for wild. You can already play Baku there. This changes nothing.
Odd Paladins and Odd Warriors on suicide watch.

but how should they nerf it? make baku 8 mana and genn 5?
but you will get full refund for baku and genn
And this is exactly their point, it changes nothing, and they probably won't change the card for a long while.
for EVER
