but for real, I was thinking about this the other day. Just realized the Lich King is based off The Witch King from LOTR and Shudderwock is based off of the Jabberwocky from the Lewis Carroll poem and Terry Gilliam film.

I just found 2 more references I doubt many have thought of. First:
Eydis Darkbane and Fjola Lightbane. As valkyries, they needed Scandinavian sounding names, so why not borrow some letters from the most famous Scandinavian word of 2010, EYjaFJallajökull. The name maker might not have been concious about this, but I think there is no way it was a coinsidence. The FJ starts the word "mountain" in Icelandic.
Wow everyone, take it easy. While this post made me feel old this is stil a 30 year old reference. Ask me about 50’s pop culture as a kid and I’m sure I would be pretty lost. It’s not young peoples fault that I’m getting old.

Fjola and Eydis are two very powerful val'kyr that were originally sent by the Lich King along with their Vengeful Val'kyr army to disrupt, destroy, and terrorize the Argent Tournament and its citizens. But during this attack Argent Confessor Paletress comes to the defense of the tournament and battles the twins. Paletress is victorious, and Fjola and Eydis are captured. Their bonds are maintained by Priestess Alorah and Priest Grimmin.
They later appear as the "final" challenge of the coliseum after the raid has defeated the Faction Champions."
It might be a valid link to the vulcano, but these two were added to WoW earlier.

I hope to god and everything that's holy that this is a troll post. I've already lost enough faith in humanity but this would be hitting rock bottom.
Oh noes, someone doesn't know a movie from the eighties - the humanity surely is doomed!
Dude pls. If anything your reaction is far more cringe-worthy than the OP, assuming he's genuine.
While his reaction was surely overacting lets not forget a movie being from the eighties means nothing. Wizard of ioz is a million times older but everyone knows about it regardless if they've seen it. Heck star wars is from the 70's and im pretty sure everyone and their dog has heard of it.
Joke's aside, it's kinda sad that this new generation sees movies like Indiana Jones as "old". Makes me wonder about my age :/
8/10

Dear OP,
Troll or not, it sounds like you've been living in a cave your whole life.
I mean, not getting an easter egg is ok, not having seen the film is also ok, but not even knowing of Indiana Jones or Harrison Ford? Really?
Oh well, better late than never.
Wow cool, I will definitely look this movie up now .....
Ugh no its George Harrison, he even sang about treasures and some people called him jones, duhhh
Skidaddle skidoodle your Milhouse manastorm is now a noodle
and did you also notice that if you swap the name in Zola the Gorgon, you get gorgonzola, the cheese, haha get it?
Wow (and that's the word wow, not an abbreviation for W.O.W.).
Just wow
The kids nowadays.....
.... think they can troll.....

Lost in the Jungle has its name borrowed from this book by Yossi Ghinsberg. It is indeed about surviving the tough conditions of Amazon. The names of the 2 rectruits, George and Carl, can be a reference in its own to some famous people, but at the very least, they foreshaddow this rare singleplayer boss from K&C.

"Patch 3.2.0: Call of the Crusade brought a host of new features for World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King and went live on 4 August 2009.
The Twin Val'kyr,
Fjola Lightbane and
Eydis Darkbane, are a pair making up the fourth (and ostensibly final) encounter in the Trial of the Crusader raid.
Fjola and Eydis are two very powerful val'kyr that were originally sent by the Lich King along with their Vengeful Val'kyr army to disrupt, destroy, and terrorize the Argent Tournament and its citizens. Damnit, I feared smth like that could be the case. They might just have used weird norse names, and they are also used in the Eldar Scrolls series.

the whole expansion was about Northrend, so it was fully packed with things like these. :)
Overall it was a really great expansion, still in the top 3 best expansions. The game really went downhill in the last few years.

Heres another lesser known one for you. Hemet Nesingwary is an anagram for Ernest Hemingway, and both are renowned authors with shotguns.

We could even take old Horror-Stories like "Call of C'Thulu" by H.P Lovecraft!
Why not make a whole expansion out of that! We could do weird monsters with tentacles! We could even call the lead character "C'Thun"!
But no, that would be a little lame, wouldn't it...?
;-)
Did you discover this all alone or did you have any help?
Maybe... nah nah nah nah
