In general, rexxar is most useful against agro decks because it acts as a board clear and gives the hunter the ability to sustain pressure indefidently. Against control, rexxar alone is not enough to win
Tell that to Odd Warrior that can basically scoop if a Hunter plays Rexxar on curve... Anyway,as others have said Rexxar is really strong card but in terms of powerlevel is on par with other DKs,the only thing I find frustrating about it is RNG... You know Jaina is gonna spawn an army of 3/6s if you give her the chance but if you don't play minions she can't do much, you know what Gul'dan Hero Power does and what kind of board you'll have to deal with when it gets played but you don't know what beast Rexxar gave them... It could be crap or it could be the Lifesteal they need to survive, the Poisonous to remove a threat or Charge/Stealth to close the game (God only knows how much I hate the fact that Tundra Rhino and Flappy Bird are in the pool, the amount of games I lost because of those cards is insanely high)... That's the one problem I have with the card but I doubt that's enough to warrant a nerf,I'd much rather see Cube get axed instead...
I don't care about DK Rexxxar. What I do care about is hunter power turns, be it cubing a dangerous creature, or recruiting something which charges or breaks the charge rules, or even a spellstone followed by a To my side! (Although this bothers me less). The DK is powerful, but often very slow. The abuse of deathrattle and recruit is often what crushes me when I play against hunter, as they simply generate too much heat from nothing which makes mid-range a frustrating prospect against hunter (thank the stars for even paladin, otherwise I would have torn my hair out). I will be so glad to see the back of cubes, cheap DR activators, kathrena, and devilsaurs. Not calling for a nerf BTW, just want to be clear.
Katrina is wonderful. She turned King Krush from being totally unplayable to the most played Classic Class legendary in the game.
The rumor is that the two of them are getting married.
Thing is, blizzard has only touched dk anduin while gul'dan, rexxar and jaina were freakin op the whole time.
You can play around 1 dmg ping. You cant play around lifesteal rush hydra, poisonous rush bat. You just cant because youve been defending yourself throughout the whole game and now its time to push. Ohh sry. Youve got no more minions because poisonous.
How do you nerf this card. A mana increase does almost nothing as the hero power is the main source of power. I just dont see how to nerf this card leading to there being no viable way to nerf it
Increasing hero power mana cost from 2 mana to 4 mana. You still get infinite value but at the expense of tempo.
All deathknights are insanely powerful, but rexxar certainly is not the best. You're forgetting about Frost Lich Jaina and Bloodreaver Gul'dan arguably the two best cards in the game. But I suppose we can keep pretending that rexxar is the problem until he either gets executed by blizzard or rotated out.
People are just upset because he's the most common, but far from the best.
You dont put jaina and guldan into aggresive decks.

Rexxar is incredibly powerful for 6 mana, he makes it possible for aggressive decks to generate unlimited value.
If an aggressive deck is trying to use Rexxar to win a game, they are doing it very, very wrong. If face hunter drops DK Rexxar, they are probably going to lose. That's not how aggro hunter wins.
FWIW - if you look at the data on HSReplays, Deathstalker Rexxar is the weakest DK, by a far margin. His "win-rate when played" is -12%. The next-weakest DK is Scourgelord Garrosh, at -3%. By point of comparison, the played win-rate for Bloodreaver Gul'dan is +12%.
Rexxar is a late-game value card, and he doesn't belong in any Hunter list which isn't designed to exploit the value he produces. In other words, he has a place in Cube Hunter, and Recruit Hunter, but not in any other viable Hunter list. The two worst-performing cards in Secret Hunter, for example, are the two Hero cards - by the data, they are the only "losing" cards in the deck, because Secret Hunter is simply too fast to leverage the value provided by Rexxar, and the deck has no on-curve plays after turn-5, which is a huge distance the deck needs to carry in order to play Zul'jin. In Cube Hunter, Rexxar's "win-rate when played" is even, about 12% better than every other Hunter deck - the deck is designed to go long and has plenty of late-game support, so that the Zombeasts supplement the overall game-plan of the deck. In fast Hunter builds, Rexxar doesn't have any late-game support. Fast decks benefit from pushing the button every turn, and leveraging that face damage to force a mid-game win. The cost of a Zombeast in a fast deck is 6-mana, plus 2-mana for the hero power activation, plus the cost of the Zombeast, plus the loss of persistent damage from simply pressing the button. Not really a good investment for a deck which typically has to win by turn 8.
In short - nerfing Rexxar wouldn't accomplish much, since he's the weakest card in most Hunter decks. Indeed, that also includes the slower builds - his played win-rate is merely even in Cube Hunter, and he's the fourth-weakest card in the most-popular build currently featured on HSReplays.
I agree with a lot of this. I played a subject 9 hunter this season and easily got to legend without Rexxar. With stitched tracker to tutor subject 9 i'd never run out of resources making the rexxar hero power unneeded and the original hero power's ability to damage face is extremely useful. On the other end of the field, when I play against hunter I often believe that people misuse rexxar and play the card when they'd be better off shooting my face every turn. I do disagree on the Zul'jin being a losing card though as he was extremely powerful in my deck and would often give me the extra push i'd need to close games out.
Drafting zombeasts is fun but it would probably be better if the hero power changed to “add a random zombeast to your hand” and just spat one out. being able to discover the exact keyword you need to bail yourself out repeatedly is a bit too much. Your still getting infinite minions to pressure the opponent with
I think people are over-egging how strong Rexxar is. Sure he can create some annoying beasts which can have the right skills for the moment, but he often doesn't. In the latter situation it's a two mana - do nothing. In aggro decks I think people often make a mistake playing him as they give up the guaranteed 2 damage per turn in exchange for a random beast and that one card per turn often isn't enough to turn the game around (when pushing for lethal might have been).
My major criticism of the card is that it's yet another card which removes skill/choices from the game, making it more RNG. You cant play around it in any meaningful way. He is good fun to play though and as a mainly priest player I like fun!
I am not playing standard because of this card. They should have nerfed it for the months it will still be in standard. I think it is that bad and I don't cry for nerfs often.
It's too late now but a nerf I would have liked to have seen is to prevent certain combinations of card text and / or lower the rate at which they appear, owls should be like hens teeth as should rush and poison on the same card or charge and lifesteal. It's crazy how often they get to make the exact card they need several times in the same game.
It went from being one of the most meh DKs to the out and out best once all the new beasts are added each expansion. Rexxar is better than any other classes DK.

That's because they play Rexxar for tempo (as strange as that is) when you only really include Rexxar in an aggressive hunter deck as a counter to control. Most of the time he isn't needed and is a dead card but it just goes to prove how strong the card is as it can single-handedly win control matchups.

It single handedly beats ONE Control deck - Warrior. I just got done destroying a Hunter who played Rexxar with a bad version of BSM (Whizbang recipe, on a F2P account). DK Jania out values DK Rexxar pretty hard.
I have no idea why so many hunters overwrite the Rexxar hero power with Zul'jin's. But I see it all the time.
From my experience what sucked about Rexxar is they would win fatigue by just crafting lifesteal minions over and over. Now they play Zul'jin close to fatigue, like there's nothing they could possibly craft from here on out that would win them the game.

I don't think that's true. DK Rexxar can be nerfed to "Build-Beast: Generate a random Zom-beast." That would still keep the essence of the card and reduce it's power just enough.
Why does everyone want cards to be nerfed ? I would love to see cards being buffed - i know the reason for bad cards exist because of the new player expirience but i mean really why the f*** does silverback patriarch be that bad. I mean what in the hell. Its so sad having 40-50% cards of the classic/basic set to exist but they never ever exist outside of the fist few hours you play and then they are gone, like for ever
Crappy cards just have to exist for ONE overwhelming reason, which is growing larger as fast as Hearthstone grows. It's the RNG!!!
On the other hand cards buffing sounds pretty cool. Unfortunately, we will never see that happen. Simply because it would ruin whole marketing strategy of Blizzard Entertainment ;-)

"この 先は 暗い 夜道 だけが も 知らない それでも信じて 進むんだ 星が その道 を 少し でも 照らしてくをるのを"
IT just need to revert back to the initial release, which only include the beast until the frozen throne expansion.
Ewwwww...

I doubt Hunter can survive Wild without DK, on the long run.
It is a broken card that allows them to be lazy about Wild Hunter balance.
Secret hunter is an aggro deck.

Another problem is it makes games wall-clock slow. It's 2 discoveries every turn your opponent has to think about. So grindingly slow.
No problem with rexxar. Fuck Zuljin.
