Hir’eek is a card that isn’t great right now, but will likely be stronger after the next expansion. Once the high level of power in the mammoth cards are gone, it will be better. Also, discard warlock are losing some good cards, so blizz might release more hand buff cards and that will make the bat quite good. I usually keep all my legendaries until they rotate out though, and even then, you never know which cards will be good later in wild.

You really think blizzard will support older cards with new expansions? LOL
Have you seen any magnetic mech in rastakhan or mech at all? They don't bother about mech archetypes boomsday supposed to bring, they won't bother about discard as well.
Case in point, the discard archetype got a MASSIVE boost this expansion. The quest went from unplayable in a serious deck to tier 2 and I bet some people are angry that they dusted it last expansion.

I love how easily this is disproven, yet you say (type?) it with such conviction.
i wonder if you would use that convinction to inform people rather then chastise them.
discard, rush, life steal just off the top of my head made an appearance in this exp
last exp mechs came back for the first time since GVG, which I’m gonna guess you weren’t playing since you seem to be misinformed.
blizz has also made a public statement that they would revisit older mechanics in new exp (just before this exp released)
Since I see the topic is at risk of derailing, I might as well say my 2 cents about discard.
I never said Jeklik is bad, hell I crafted her like 1 week ago and had a blast with her many times, even without the quest (I won't be bothered to craft legendaries that rotate out in 2-3 months).
When she's among the last 10 cards in my deck though. . that's another story.

Yeah I’ve really only seen Jeklik prosper when she is the only card in hand after a doomguard but if she can be snowballed like that you essentially have a full hand every time and the lifesteal to keep going I think the discard deck is def fun, but in wild I’ve seen it crush full Aggro and also have enough aggression to crush a control deck.
whoops wrong leg :/ I’m too tired for all these names
So because the expansion after booms day didn’t have any cards from the new mechanic in boomsday, blizz doesn’t support older cards? That’s just flat out wrong. Just look at warlock quest and discard mechanic. We may or may not get more magnetic cards, but I would bet we get a couple new mechs before boomsday rotates.
Since this topic is about Hir’eek though, I could see support for him in several ways with hand buff, cheap rush minions combined with the spirit, any warlock spell that lets you duplicate a card in hand or twincast spells could be abused by him, the list goes on. Hir’eek has several avenues to gain buffs and is a great follow up to a board clear. He may not be strong now, but Hir’eek is one of the cards from RR that I think would benefit from many different types of cards that could be released in future expansions.
I feel like everyone is trying zoo variants with the bat, but maybe he's really a combo deck. Stall, clear boards, etc until you can drop a buffed bat. 8 mana cards dependent on RNG are not a great recipe for zoo, right?
It was the loa I got as well and at first I was disappointed, but it can be a fun deck (Zilliax is a must craft in this deck, imo). I think it needs a little more support to be "viable." Here's what I'd like to see:
1. A way to summon small rush minions--like 3 1/1 imps with rush. This would help a ton to get more value out of the spirit.
2. A low mana (ideally 1 or 2 mana) "draw a beast" card. If this already exists, I apologize. I know the Curator did this. This card (bat) is just WAY too weak if you draw it late.
3. Better support for handbuff and control. (one of the problems with hir'eek in my opinion is that, in a zoo deck, I think there are better, more reliable options you'd want buffed -- like Leroy). It is 8 mana for starters, it is RNG based (and requires a good amount of setup and some decisions to get him buffed go against aggro strats), and there is so much aoe that you can get punished pretty hard for trying to set up a fun bat board.
4. More "copy this minion" cards for lock. Losing saronite chain gang is a HUGE loss for this archetype (especially if you want to lean more towards tempo or control).
5. A "return minion to hand and it keeps its enhancements" card would be awesome too (or even return it to deck and it keeps enhancements")
That's all I can think of. I'd hang onto the bat. It can be fun summoning a board of 7/7 bats! Once scream and anduin rotate, priests won't be as annoying. Mages and Warriors can usually answer. Locks if they play (and hold onto) a twisting nether. Pallies have pyro/equality. Hunters, Rogues, Druids, and Shaman are usually screwed. :P
I think Deathwing will see a comeback in the next expansion when this little bat is a bit stronger!!!
If we see more cards that will benefit more from handbuff, he might be viable. We have the 3 mana imp (forgot its name), Saronite Chain Gang (will be wild only next rotation) and Doppelgangster (wild only). We also have the Princess but she requires discard which would suck with other cards.
woah good thing you didn't mention battlecries and deathrattles xd
They are making discard viable again? wow, for straight 4 months, how generous is that?
They are printing rush cards instead of charge ones and life steal? So are they with taunt and spell power. It's only a support card, nothing to build deck around.
What happened to great perspectives of creating magnetic mechs with unlimited power, what happened to using same spell a couple of times or filling your board by echoing card over and over? Are you so naive to think there will be any overkill word printed in next expansions?
last exp mechs came back for the first time since GVG
So it took them almost 4 years to give us zilliax only and gigling inventor for 3 months
I shoved it in my control lock as the finisher/pressure generator with the two +2/+2 sells instead of blood bloom, arcane tyrant, and Glinda. I feel it is an easier combo to pull off (one less card required) and the blood bloom combo often couldn’t be played because the health loss was too risky. I haven’t had a chance to play it much though, just 4 games since I put that together. The bat won one of those though, against spell hunter. Two were easy Aggro wins, and the other was a shudderwock whose combo went in the wrong order (I rushed Rin, but he still put the whole combo together) and I cleared his shudderwocks.
Here's a deck I made QUICKLY. It's not meant to be competitive. I really just used what I had available with a "sacrifice" theme. Hopefully it'll give you some ideas. Good luck.

Other minions benefit from handbuff in different ways, though. Lifesteal, rush, taunt, charge all benefit. I had a Doomguard with 11 attack in my last deck. Handbuff can synergize with Shadowflame.
I think the bat deck needs the right mix of token minions, stuff that benefits from buffing, and enough stalling to set up bat combos. Maybe that's too much to ask for one deck.
Even if it's not a top tier card, it does have a top tier animation! Very satisfying to fill the board in a bat swarm.

Welp, I opened 15 packs and got 2 legendaries, one of them being Voone, and the other one Hir'eek.
Should I bother to make him playable or dust him? I have a feeling he is way too RNG based, much like Jeklik. Opinions?
dont dust you might get him again if you do it, only dust when you are 100% sure you wont be getting more rastakhan packs
Never dust! I reckon he’ll have his day. Maybe not now, but later. I made a zoolock deck with him in which was fun!
Please don't tell my girlfriend about my card collection...

But if next expansion we get some good dragons, I can see dragon warrior be tier 1 or high 2. Because of all the DK's and Combo decks rotating out.
