so in one of my recent games I pulled Jan'alai out of the opponents deck with death grip (created by Lich King obv.). As classes like druid, warlock, hunter can cause damage with their hero power I thought you can also trigger the battlecry of Jan'alai.
Well with druid that is not the case as you do not directly cause damage with the hero power but attack with your hero. Has anyone experienced it with Hunter or Warlock?
I kind of understand druid and rogue will not trigger it but at least hunter should, right?
No, this does not count. Druid does not deal damage with their hero-power, they gain 1 armor and 1 attack. But you still do damage with your face, so it's not dealing damage with the hero-power itself. This only counts in classes that can deal damage with their hero-power: Mage/Hunter/Priest (with auchenai, DK)/Warlock (yes, dealing damage to yourself counts as damage done with hero-power) and Warrior DK/Dr. Boom
As said, Druid and Rogue do not deal damage with their hero power, but with an attack value (weapon or just buff). So the hero itself deals damage.
Hero powers usable by players that deal damage are hunter, mage, DK Anduin and DK Gul'dan or other special ones like Lightning Jolt (from Charged Hammer ) or DIE, INSECT! .
I don't know whether Gul'dans original hero power Life Tap also counts, but I would think so.

Attached is a screenshot of my druid game.
With Hunter it works.
Druid doesn't fit the conditions for the reasons that you said (same with Rogue).
Your hero dealing the damage is not the hero power itself so yeah in this case not bugged.

Edit: added dr. boom to the list
Okay cool, thanks for confirming. Actually took me a few minutes to really understand that haha.

so will it also work with the warlock hero power
