This card is not good .. This card needs pirates to work so its pretty simple if you are going to build a pirate deck you will definetely prefer Captain Hooktusk over this.
Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
This card is amazing , if played in the right deck it will be easily a 3/3 or 4/4 for 2 mana. Who cares about the synergy with Captain Hooktusk. This is a 4 or 5 star card
This card is crap, if you have 3 or 4 pirates uncontested in the board you will win anyway or this only wil one more to die in opponent mass removal in next turn, it is a win-more card.
In Wild with 1 mana pirate and Patches is ok, in Standard is just crap.
Needs at least 2 pirates to be good (2 mana raging worgen). Seems easy with the new 2-mana pirate that summons a pirate when you attack. Ironically this is much stronger than any of the rush/rush-synergy cards warrior has gotten in Rastakhan
Raging worgen don't need anything and can draw from 1 mana 1/2, if Patches still in Standard this card can work, in Wild maybe...
It's weird that this doesn't have synergy with captain hooktusk, but it's still a good card. I think there's not enough pirates for it to be GREAT, but it's definitely a cool and good concept.

And... if your opponent played a fat taunt (tar creeper, or one of the new taunt minions), and thus they're not uncontested but you still have a big board full of pirates. this is a reasonably good response that develops your board.

Captian Hooktusk IS NOT for pirate decks. It is like putting Kathrena in a midrange hunter that plays dire moles
Captian Hooktusk is for decks that play few good, large pirates. It is an awful card if you actually play many pirates of varied cost.
I think people are really badly misjudging this card, first of all, it really isn't hard to have at least a few pirates on board but not be in a winning position where this is just a win more card like some people have said. if the opponent has any taunt and you don't have this you are probably trading your entire board to remove it you have this you probably don't lose anything.
second hooktusk is a late turn play the chances you draw this before you play her are rather high and it instantly becomes a great card once you play her so I think people really exaggerating the anti-synergy of the card yes you might sometimes draw this with hooktusk and that would feel bad. but i think overall it would be a very valuable card in that kind of deck.
maybe I am wrong but that's my take on this card still hoping for another pirate or two but we'll see what happens
I wish that they revealed this one before Captain Hooktusk. Seeing this after Captain Hooktusk makes it feel like the rest of the pirates are going to suck and not work with her (which could be true but we don't know yet). Overall, I think this card is decent. It needs some cheap pirates to make it powerful and the Spirit of the Shark can double its battlecry. It makes me feel like this card is part of the battlecry theme for Rogue this exp rather than the pirates.

I really like the card, and having 2 pirates out is pretty trivial with Sharkfin Fan around. Given its reliance on pirates it seems off to say 'rather than pirates'. I actually quite like that the rogue cards don't all work together at once, but you can mix them up and make quite a wide range of game-plans from only two overarching ideas.
Do you go full pirate (probably quite aggressive and might cut Hooktusk), and if so is it even rogue or normal? Maybe it is a midrange-y pirate deck to cut out the duds with Hooktusk. Perhaps you want a pure battlecry deck, maybe battlecry + deathrattle, or battlecry + pirate? Maybe you do something altogether different and run only 2 pirates and Lab Recruiters, WANTED! and Prep. to make a (gimmicky but awesome) Cannon Barrage after Hooktusk and the Spirit.
It is quite possible none of them make it into the meta, but we can surely thank the devs for not forcing specific archetypes.

Works like a 2 3/3 with Rush in some cheap Pirate deck Rogue might run. Seems good and interesting enough to have that see some play. Very good card.

The best way to actually do something well is have no idea what you're doing. Then what you're doing will become what you have no idea you're doing, at which point since you're doing what you're doing without knowing what you're doing you're doing what you're doing without knowing you're doing it.
How can so many people miss the super synergy with Cannon Barrage? This can easily kill anything that might soak up damage from the barrage and since it it so cheap you can even very easily shadow step it and do that twice.
I wish people would stop tunnel vision with the "anti-synergy" with Hooktusk. Besides, it also has very big synergy with her when used properly. (You use Lab Recruiter on a captain or other good pirates before and then combo Hooktusk with this!)

Turn 1 something
Turn 2 dagger
Turn 3 thug + dagger swing
turn 4 sharkfin fan + dagger swing + this
This is how pirate rogue will try to win games. Will this be enough? It is hard to say yet.
Seems good in Wild.
