I don't think this will see play over Rexxar. Maybe in some decks people will try both hero cards, but the power of Rexxar is bigger since it provides you with cards and not only face/board control damage.
But when Deathstalker Rexxar cycles out, this will see play. The effect is sufficiently controllable with many hunter spells so that the spells do not backfire ( Animal Companion , Deadly Shot , all secrets, Emerald Spellstone , Dire Frenzy , Play Dead ). In this way, Zul'jin gives you a board and removes the opponent's minions. And another advantage is that you do not lose the hero power pressure on the opponent's health total which sometimes is sad when you switch to DK Rexxar. But with Zul'jin you can still aim at face if need be.
Zul'jin is not as good as Bloodreaver Gul'dan , but to me he looks strong enough after rotation 2019 and maybe even before that as a final push (or if you get it before Rexxar).
Looks like Yogg that can't even clear the board. You get a bunch of Secrets that may or may not be relevant and a board of 3/3s and 2/4s at best without any way of protecting it from an AoE. And you can't even play Unleash the Hounds because it will leave you with a board of 1/1s. AND you have to cripple your deck by removing all burn from it because otherwise you could just burn yourself after playing the hero.
It's nowhere near as good as Gul'Dan because that one summons Taunts, Taunts with Deathrattles that spawn Taunts, 6/6+s and 5/7 Charge minions. But even if you ignore that, Gul'Dan deals 3 Lifesteal damage that help you stabilize. The two heroes are literally worlds apart.
Memedeck-seeker. Always tries to build new decks. Hates tournements, streamers, netdecks and poor-o players. ah, but a tournement mode could be great !!!
Why are people comparing this to Bloodreaver Gul'dan ? Considering that card is currently the second best deathknight (after rexxar of course) it seems super unfair.
Be happy that this isn't as OP as gul'dan. This card is still very good. When you play this, you basicly always get 5 secrets (remember mysterious challenger?) and a board full of wolves and animal companions. The turn after you play this, you win, so who cares how good the hero power is.
Lazy design, but a great card. This is basically a mini controlled yogg that costs 10 and nets you 5 armor. After that, you may drop another hero card to keep on going. Awesome.
10 mana seems a bit too expensive. 8 would have been reasonable, I think.
Aside from that, I actually like it. It's not as insanely powerful as the Death Knights, and that's a good thing. Of course nobody uses it as long as Rexxar is around, but next year, the game will be SO different.
And honestly, the effect is pretty good. Playing 5 secrets, killing a minion or two with Deadly Shots, summoning some Animal Companions, gaining some armor, and who knows what other spells Hunter will get... it's fair, but it's not weak. Just weak in comparison to the ridiculous powerlevels people are used to from last year.
Another 4 months, and Zul'jin will look pretty good.
i think everyone is being way too dramatical about this card, people were waiting for a rexxar sucessor that would be as broken as the previous, but you guys (and wahmens) have to understand that blizzard dont want another death knights meta. Sure, a legendary card is supposed to give you an advantage, but asking for a card to single handledly win you the game IS asking too much. If you guys are really into playing games whitout interaction, go to yugioh, hearthstone isnt what you're looking for.
People who say this card is underpowered compared to the Hunter DK or should cost less are insane. This card is supposed to be used as a win condition, and not to continually generate value. It's use case is completely different from the Rexxar DK.
Remember Yogg-Saron, Hope's End? It costs the same amount and was viewed as so unfair that it had to be nerfed.
This card powercreeps even pre-nerf Yogg. Yogg casts a random spell for each spell you cast, whereas this card recasts the actual spells you cast. This makes a huge difference - one is a meme RNGesus card, while the other is a card that you can actually build around and rely on for consistent outcomes.
The slightly upgraded hero power is just gravy and totally irrelevant. Once you play this card, the tempo swing is so great that you should win the game outright in the next 1-2 turns if you built your deck right.
You need to build around this, of course, which means avoiding too many spells that can backfire (like single-target dmg ones that aren´t fixed to an enemy... sounds bad for Flanking Strike since it can hit your minions). Of coruse nice with secrets, the Huffer spell, etc Solid for spell hunter? Maybe, but Rexxar is much better even for spell hunter as a minion-generator and when he rotates out, a lot of importat Hunter spells also do. Still voted "meta-defining" since any good spell the Hunter might get in the next 4 expansions can synergize with it in Standard (and it can be crazy in Wild, as any "do tons of stuff" cards).
Got the neft bat on the HP tho, it´s much worse HP than Guldan´s. This should cost less or the HP should AT LEAST do 3 dmg.
Disappointed, because the card is weak and unoriginal. This can be used in a spell hunter, secret hunter or in a deathrattle deck with god-like draws. Deathstalker Rexxar is way, way, way better than this. I admit, that the battlecry is strong, but the HP is barely an upgrade. Compared to Bloodreaver Gul'dan this hero card is a joke. The battlecry of the warlock hero card is a resemblance of N'Zoth, but instead of deathrattles we resurrect demons. Zul'jins battlecry is a resemblence to Yogg (Tess), but with more control. Both hero cards have one major weakness - they are weak, if they are played on turn 10 w/o any set-up, but the warlock HP can sustain you and clear minions. The previous 2 hero cards are better than this and yet they are still fair in general. Hagatha the Witch cycles your resources (minions), Dr. Boom, Mad Genius offers an immediate board impact on the following turn with the rush minions, his armour also enables Reckless Flurry.
The good thing about the hero cards was their flexibility - they can be included in various decks. Anduin as a board clear in control and combo decks and as a reach, Jaina in control and value decks, Guldan - control, mid-range, combo and in aggro (in the past), Rexxar - in every non-aggro hunter deck etc etc. Zuljin doesn't offer this flexibility, he can be used in very specific decks (just like DK Thrall).
All of those things make me wish, that I don't open this legendary from a pack. And normally I am a sucker for hero cards.
The hero power is lackluster but I wouldn't go as far as calling this garbage. Very few hunter spells are target spells and Dire Frenzy usually buffs your minions. The negative effects from the randomness seems inconsequntial as the spells help you out most of the time
Sometimes, a huge board and secret refill is the solution you need to win.
The random order means you cannot do any reliable combo with Zul'jin. That said, this is a board refill for 10 mana for spell hunter at the moment. (Can't wait to Baited Arrow my spellstone wolves and get rid of that 5 armor with kill command.) The hero power screams ''we didn't bother to spend any time on this and decided to play it safe".
Not impressive, but neither bad. I was so hyped and now I'm so disappointed of the only f2p troll we have in HS. Hell, that's the biggest letdown in a while.

Kind of highlights how OP Bloodreaver Gul'dan is.
Yogg is back PogChamp
This hero power is worthless. Only doind 2 damage after paying 10 mana? Have we forgoten about Bloodreaver Gul'dan?

Poor and lazy design. Stop with this kinda stuff already.

Now there are some good spells that can come from The Lich King such as Anti-Magic Shell or Death Grip.
Even the 3 Damage AoE is not bad. But there are some bad one's in there too.

Where are you lore?
How about you add one these ideas to Berserker Throw:
-At 15 or less hp deal 3 dmg instead
-Overkill: refresh hero power.
