No idea why the constant “terrible on its own” “5 mana do 1 damage” “unplayable with no tokens” when clearly it’s a combo card. Everyone will be running this with Celestial Emissary since it provides an effect and replaces itself with random mage spell which is fantastic value.
It gets even more stupid in Wild like with Reno Mage having Aggro doing full board commits and you already have Ice Block on dropping this combo filling your hand with spells. That is a big GG. Exspecially with spell discount and other synergy.
Every Reno Mage in existence will be running this Combo and most Standard Mages as well.
This card reminds me of Bane of Doom in that it has epic rarity, 2 dmg (albeit AoE) and a conditional effect capable of highrolling. And similar to the Warlock card this one won't shake up anything. Why would you need to fill your hand with lotsa random stuff? If you're in a position with your opponent being unable to punish you for such a low tempo play (remember, this is a worse Holy Nova at worst) you would've won that particular match anyway.
I ended up being right about this card, one of the best of the expansion especially in Arena. Blast Wave got underestimated hard. After some play testing it's a MVP. Has almost Meteor power levels in Arena.
