No idea why the constant “terrible on its own” “5 mana do 1 damage” “unplayable with no tokens” when clearly it’s a combo card. Everyone will be running this with Celestial Emissary since it provides an effect and replaces itself with random mage spell which is fantastic value.
It gets even more stupid in Wild like with Reno Mage having Aggro doing full board commits and you already have Ice Block on dropping this combo filling your hand with spells. That is a big GG. Exspecially with spell discount and other synergy.
Every Reno Mage in existence will be running this Combo and most Standard Mages as well.
I think it will see play in odd mage because it is a dragons fury enabler
Exactly! this card doesn't even need to be that good cause dragon's fury is just that good, and there were not enough enough enablers before this card come to be
People are seriously underestimating this card. It's basically volcanic potion and cabalists tome rolled into 1.
It's at the very least a 4 star card.
I think those who are voting it as unplayable trash are those who can't find a single card to swap it for in BSM and who are 100% convinced that Odd Mage will never happen.

Getting a SP minion before turn 8 won’t be difficult. That’s saying if you need to do it ASAP.

The thing is I need a good aoe to clear the board. Not just to generate value. Mage has already infinite value through dk. Problem is survival ability.
This card reminds me of Bane of Doom in that it has epic rarity, 2 dmg (albeit AoE) and a conditional effect capable of highrolling. And similar to the Warlock card this one won't shake up anything. Why would you need to fill your hand with lotsa random stuff? If you're in a position with your opponent being unable to punish you for such a low tempo play (remember, this is a worse Holy Nova at worst) you would've won that particular match anyway.
I ended up being right about this card, one of the best of the expansion especially in Arena. Blast Wave got underestimated hard. After some play testing it's a MVP. Has almost Meteor power levels in Arena.

People forget it's a MAGE card, mage AOE is quite expansive because mage can finish off surviving minions with hero power as well.
Blizzard is a 1 mana higher and it a lot of times actually clears an aggro board, mage has a lot of incremental damage to make over turns.
also odd mage has Black Cat BY DEFAULT and again Dragon's Fury
Mage has an advantage when you are talking about AOE spells.
You are paying 2 extra mana over Volcanic Potion for
1)the card being in standard- lower power level than wild.
2)Dragon's Fury and Dragoncaller Alanna synergy
I believe with all the support this expansion odd mage will be a top deck, it got a bunch of very powerful control tools.
Don't forget about Arcane Tyrant synergy also!
