I think the current ratings for this card are probably a bit over the top - at least in constructed anyway. I suspect it will we too hard to keep the thing alive to actually get more than 1 token out of it.
Interesting card though, with interesting flavour and excellent art. Good start to the reveal season.
Seems good. Rogues typically have a dagger up most of the time, so it's at least 3/3 worth of stats with the threat of making another 1/1 each turn, plus there is the pirate synergy. Turn 1 coin + dagger into this into Southsea Captain is a pretty brutal opener.
This is just another cancer card for Odd rouge, which I'm not even sure they need.
Please think about what you say before posting
At first I was going to ask you why? Because what he wrote makes sense in Wild at least, because Odd Rogue runs tons of Pirates, then I saw the mana cost lmao...
I think this card was designed with only Even Rogue in mind, and that's OK. It's a lot like Hench-Clan Thug, which as far as I know only sees play in Odd Rogue and Tempo Rogue, and it's still amazing.

What about the classes that can currently equip a weapon on turn 1? Paladin? Hunter? Warrior?

yeah i'm pretty sure this will be annoying with n'zoth¡s first mate in pirate warrior, basicallly it just went from the face deck to the goblin spam deck, still since warrior doesn't have access to Mark of the Lotus the deck will b far from op
It's actually quite good for even rogue - Right now, as an even rogue, you lack powerful two drops besides bloodsail raider. Razorpetal lasher is okay-ish at best.
Toxicologist (Standard), Goblin Auto Barber, Ship's Cannon (Wild).
It'll only really fit into even rogue or pirate rogue. The latter has never been good, but might be with a little support, at least in wild, and the former is actually potentially meta-defining as it's a great counter to paladin.
Even rogue is pretty good in wild ngl. I hit legend with an even, miracle, pirate package.
In your optimal pirate deck, like pirate warrior, you always have a weapon equipped, so this card just has 2 mana 3/3 value. Southsea Captain plus a weapon on the board can make this a 2 mana 5/5. Super value. And it’s a 2-drop; in a world where there’s not many good 2 mana pirates, let alone 2-mana cards in general, this is a card worth being excited about.
If there are enough cards that depend on having a lot of Pirates in play (like Cannon Barrage), this card could be good.

This seems pretty good, regardless of what the rest of the set looks like.
He is right in one aspect, putting this in your odd rogue would be like giving the deck a terminal illness.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
Wild Even Rogue is actually so good idk what you mean.

Good card for a temp rogue deck... But it's even and 2 Mana so you can't play it with Keleseth so I don't think it'll be played.
IMO this has potential in any class than can equip a weapon on turn 1. Hunter, Paladin, Even Rogue (lol?), Warrior in Wild.

And let's not forget that Kingsbane exists.

I want to play even rogue pirates
Rogue with coin:
turn 1: Equip Weapon
turn 2: play Sharkfin Fan
turn 3: Hench-Clan Thug
And the snowball is set up.
I would not mind this card being 5 mana. ;)
