When the next year arrives, and cards like Zola the Gorgon, Grumble, Worldshaker and Hemet, Jungle Hunter rotate out, how do you think the mechanics of Shudderwock could work out? I am asking this because the fun and power of this card relays in making it return to your hand for an extra turn, knocking out your opponent.
It'll probably be just like the midrangy-evolve version we have now, without grumble, etc. I doubt Blizzard will print more ways for the combo to be possible again.
Saronite Chain Gang also rotates out, so I'm struggling to see how even the mid-range version sticks around in standard without being able to fill the board with shudderwoks
Grumble does not need a nerf. If you don't like the interaction between the two there are other ways to fix it that doesn't fuck up Grumble. Shudderwock shaman doesn't need a nerf anyway.
On topic, I'm not sure what shudderwock shaman will look like next year after rotation. No Zola/Grumble and also no Saronite Chain Gang meaning it won't even be a huge play to drop multiple shudderwocks. There honestly aren't a lot of other battlecries that will have a strong impact and be good tempo plays on their own. Lifedrinker Is one I guess but that is hardly a huge play for 9 mana. There are no worthwhile shamanclass card battlecries other than hagatha's. Electra and Omega Mind rely on spells which you won't be able to do for 1 mana. As far as neutrals nothing really stands out.
Honestly it seems like the card will suck unless they add battlecry support for shaman, which i think they will. They're probably just holding off as to not buff shudderwock shaman in it's current form.

I thought about some more fatiguelike shaman with Baleful Banker and Seaforium Bomber but I don't think it will work. With no saronite chain gang or doubling card, baleful bankers battlecry won't hit the shudderwock, and you couldn't play baleful on shudderwock without the coin, so that probably won't work.
People talk about grumble but losing Saronite Chain Gang is the biggest blow to shudderwock.
The first time I saw Shudderwock, I immediately thought of the jade deck. People include it there for the sole purpose of giving them extra value.
So this is your answer - outvaluing your opponent. This legendary is not restricted for combo decks only; shamans just need to get more powerful battlecry cards and this will enable a lot of swing like N'Zoth, the Corruptor does.
It's too early to guess where Shudderwock will be used 100% of the time, but he suits control and mid-range decks at best. Aggro ones need something really specific (direct face damage, charge), in order to include this Bloodreaver Gul'dan in their lists.
WIth only a few Battlecries in the deck, Shudderwock is already tremendous value. It will probably not be a main card of an archetype, but can be added because it can be a very powerful card.

Any ideas?
yeah, wow
All I know is that both Grumble and Shudderwock could be fun cards on their own, but the interaction between them is dumb.
Change Grumble so that it only returns elementals to your hand, and then both cards can be fun.

I will be happy when grumble rotates, but you can always use baleful banker and go for more of a value game?

No great loss it's an idiotic deck. And I like shaman.

Well, it still possible to run the infinite shudderwock after rotation.
The mystic gives 2-drops only.
Yeah, my bad, I thought it was 2. well, combo is dead then.
