At least we don't have to worry about 6 4/4's on the board anymore with 4 of them with taunt and divine shield. I'm curious about how they saw this as still broken at 6 mana. One of the reasons they stated was "...with the upcoming expansion...", so it makes me wonder what's coming up that would have synergized with it.

Evenlock and Quest Rogue. At 6 mana, Quest Rogue could play Giggling, bounce it with Brewmaster for 2 mana, then use the extra Brewmaster generated by DK Valeera to bounce the first Brewmaster, going infinite for the rest of the game. At 7 mana this is impossible.

That change was totally undeserved. Giggling Inventor is a defensive card good almost only in control decks. Against fast decks you need to protect yourself in the first few turns or they slaughter you, which is why at 5 mana it was just right. At 6 mana it would still have been playable, however, 7 is way out of line.
In fast decks the card is good only, when facing other fast decks, because it solidifies your board state. If you are facing a control deck, however, it will not care if you have some annoying trash on the board, because it will have a plethora of board clears, usually, to deal with a wide board and covering your minions with Giggling Inventor does almost nothing.
The main problem with this card is, when used in a deck like Quest Rogue. You cannot deal with Giggling Inventor, when buffed by the quest, but in that deck the main problem is and always will be the quest itself. If, for example, the quest did not buff summoned minions, but only played ones it would not have been as bad.
If Blizzard wanted to they could have even banned the card from being used in a deck with the rogue quest in it, but instead they went and nerfed Giggling Inventor to oblivion, lowering the survivability of control decks by a huge margin. I am immensely disappointed.
Jesus Christ 140 posts on a no-brainer nerf. It is the epitome of meeting nerf criteria. I run it in my aggro decks, my control decks, basically every deck. People are playing Blood Knight FFS, card was a sad joke until this abomination came out. People defending or saying wawa 7 mana overnerf need to book a return trip to planet Earth. I guess part of the problem is their even-odd gimmick horseshit that has collapsed the design space into a singularity. Can these morons just add more keywords? it's not like there aren't a plethora of proven ones to steal from other games.
I currently have 6 active decks and 4 (Pala, rouge, mage, druid) run Inventor. this card is/was OP. It´s a good thing to have good cards (also tech) as general one´s but there is no need to make them too good .... I could handle it against me most of the time but it won me so many games thats quite clear how powerful it is.
Standard decks include 7-cost cards for very specific reasons: they very strongly affect the state of the game when played. The nerfed Giggling will be competing with theses, and it fails big time.
Giggling won't see play.
If it's still an auto include 2x in any deck I'll craft a Cho.

I find it baffling that they didn't even bother changing the stats on the body itself. While yes, this wasn't the strength of the card, a 7 mana 2/1 is unacceptable in damn near every scenario. If they are dead set on 7 mana for a body that summons two Annoy-o trons, at the VERY least make it a 3/2. This would make the card fair, a 2 mana 3/2, two 2 mana 1/2's with Divine Shield and Taunt, (total cost = 6, + 1 for the convenience of one card AND being a neutral card) Hell, I'd even take a 3/1 or a 2/2.
Leaving it as is makes it seem like Blizzard is fine with nuking her out of orbit.

Excellent link to the other 7 drops.
Giggling is not even in the same ball park at 7..
Interesting to see there is only 2 other Rare & neutral 7 drops in the game.

What in the fuck? 7 mana is completely unplayable, even in evolve shaman.
I think they both needed to be nerfed. At least I'm consistent!

I think it would be most fair to make it 2/2 for 6 mana.

Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.

Change this to 6 Mana if Blizzard move to 7 no one will use it ....
Not a very good comparison, since one is in Standard and the other is Wild exclusive.
Think about THIS actually: https://www.hearthpwn.com/cards?filter-show-standard=y&filter-cost-val=7&filter-cost-op=3&filter-premium=1&display=3

Tomorrow will be a great day.
For 7 manas the stats can be 4/4, the 2 other minions have much less impact in that stage of the game.
This nerf is the same they deleted the card from existence.

Ravenholdt Assassin
Volcanosaur
Rusty Recycler
Ironic. It could recycle others, but not itself.
If you are about to die, and your opponent has 3 minions on board, which would you rather play?
In any other situation Boom is far better.
Some fun facts..
Out of my 14 decks Giggling Inventor was only in 3 of them!
In 2 of the decks i replaced them with Saronite Chain Gangs (next one to be nerfed?).
In my The Storm Bringer Elemental Shaman i replaced them with Stone Sentinels.
It killed my Bloodlust Shaman.. I guess i will start playing boring (fun and interactive?) Shudderwock instead..
In my opinion..
Giggling Inventor was not the problem but Quest Rogue was (is).
Shaman lists got hit by the nerf, cept for Shudderwock Shaman.
Druid and any Aggro lists are the big winners of these nerfs (in standard).
Wouldnt it had been ok just to remove the divine shield instead?
