No. Quest Rogue has evolved into an infinite value deck. The boar is not even being run in some lists. It certainly is NOT the problem.
The only lists with a decent winrate that don't run Stonetusk Boar have Southsea Deckhand. Value decks are not good. Value does not beat aggro and it gives more time to combo to just kill you, as Rogue has no way to deal with a combo deck except... oh who would've EVER guessed? Killing them. Please, don't be ridiculous. Stats speak for themselves. It's NOT an opinion. Please, share me the wonderful 20% winrate deck without any charge minions, because I can't find it anywhere. I'll gladly take back my words if sufficient data proves such a "Value Quest Rogue" isn't just a much worse version than the current "optimized" version. But as it stands right now, it seems you sir have LITERALLY no idea what you're talking about. Cheap charge is what makes Quest Rogue even remotely playable. Without it, you'd have no win condition. Flood the board with 4/4 minions will not be enough against the majority of decks that have a win condition of their own. Will it beat most control decks? Yeah. Probably. But Quest Rogue with charges already does that. You're talking nonsense.
I am going to answer as though I believe quest rogue needs nerfing again, but I am not sure it does. Anyway:
Blizzard didn't nerf Sunkeeper Tarim last time and I very much doubt they would nerf Sonya either. They may be the strongest card in a deck but that does mean they should be the ones to be nerfed.
The reason Tarim is okay, despite being way above the normal power level, is that it does paladin things. What Tarim does is cement the fact that Paladin is very good at debuffing enemy minions and buffing their own. Similarly Sonya cements the fact that Rogue is good at replaying minions (which it has done since Classic).
The real targets for nerfs are the cards that break the game but don't really embody what the class is made to do. Charge, rush and lifesteal are not rogue mechanics and are most of the issues here. So no, Sonya doesn't need nerfing. The other pieces of the deck would be much better targets.
No nerf needed ...just certain minions with Charge need to be changed into Rush. That will open up space for new Charge minions to be carefully introduced again in later dates, while keeping Sonya intact. It will also stop us from seeing the same minions in every agro deck...as Charge minions would now rotate with expansions.
I couldn't imagine serious-posting in these threads; it's almost as bad as starting them.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Look, I want to tell you something because you're very dear to me. And I hope you understand that it comes from the bottom of my damaged, damaged heart. You are the finest piece of ass I've ever had and I don't care who knows it. I am so glad that I got to roam those hillsides.
Sonya is not the problem, Boar is not the problem. The problem lies with the concept of the Quest instead.
It got nerfed twice, disappeared for a whle and came back after a few support cards were added. Vicious Scalehide and Wax Elemental gave it a massive boost during Kobolds and now it'S Giggling INventor that brought it back.
It's now played as a grindy deck with infinite value through the Hollow/Zola loop.
At this point you'D need to nerf: Giggling Inventor, Vicious Scalehide, Sonya Shadowdance, Zola the Gorgon, and even then the deck would probably still find a way back into the meta JUST BECAUSE IT OBLITERATES CONTROL.
The Quest simply needs...a rework. And by that I mean completely change the reward and/or the way to get to it. Bouncing minions is just too easy given the tools Rogue has (and that are part of the class identity) and even Sonya isn't OP in any other context (more like a better version of Shadowcaster)
Giving your minons a permanent stat buff is jsut too powerful, since a lot of minions with very powerful effects or keywords are on the smaller side.
this x2000, sonya is a great card that would just be unjustly nerfed if we keep having cheap charge minions, my proposal??? just nerf Stonetusk Boar and Southsea Deckhand to 3 mana each, or better yet, Hall of fame them.
2. Every good charge card or referring to charge in the classic set has been nerfed (Leeroy, all warrior class cards cf. Patron, Giant, Worgen decks ... ). They haven't released a charge minion in years because when they do =>Patches' Gate. And I won't be surprised if in the next months they erase the mechanic and rework charge minions to have rush instead.
I am tempted to re-craft the Quest just to help fueling all this hilarious QR drama...
Now, seriously, QR is definitely problematic, but can't we just wait for the third and final nerf of the Quest itself (it's gonna be a complete re-work), instead of asking to nerf the entire game?
If something is OP only in a specific deck, but fine elsewhere, don't you think that something else in the deck is the real source of all problems?
I think they should nerf Sonya Shadowdancer.
Sonya is to OP in quest rogue, i think they should not nerf quest but they should nerf Sonya.
With Sonya, Quest Rogue deck can complete quest in one turn (from zero).
This only me, or sonya in quest rogue always op against all control deck.
I know that aggro deck can beat quest rogue easily, but almost all control deck feel suffer against it.
OR any idea to counter it when use control deck?
Let me guess, quest rogue beat you? No nerf, she’s great. Doesn’t see much play outside of bunny hopper and quest rogue, hardly needs a nerf.
Some day it all is going to get to the point when people will start making threads about nerfing Millhouse
Please nerf millhouse blizzard I always lose the game when I play him on curve he's too strong for my opponent
Sonya Shadowdancer isn't the problem. Stonetusk Boar and his charging friends are. As simple as that.
control decks suffer because quest rogue is meant to counter them, just like aggro counters quest rogue...

Quest rogue is not a problem, it just happens to do well in the meta.
The archetypes has some AWFUL matchups: odd rogue, zoo and tempo mage. Just wait it out, it will never go out of hand.

I tried having fun once. It was awful.
