One of the best cards in the set for me so far has been mechanical welp. In my deathrattle priest deck it is insane when you cube it or even getting it discounted, you get a 7/7 for 3 mana. I threw it into a couple other decks and it works even in non mech/non deathrattle decks. It has great value with 9/9 worth of stats for 6 mana. I really think mechanical welp is the sleeper in this set. What are your experiences with this card?
not sure deathrattle priest has a place in the meta, and I think there are better options than mechanical whelp when the meta settles. Essentially the card need deathrattle support or else it loses to silence, which will be very common when the meta settles as it has been for 2 expansions. I believe silence got better with this expansion because it stops paladin from being crazy and otherwise paladin is crazy. Basically I suspect the mechanical whelp will do well for a week, like other similar cards have done and then it will be phased out of anything it is played in over the next week. Except maybe some hunter deck because hunter has become the king of weird powerful combos with otherwise subpar cards.

Just fill your deck with one drops, that is creative deck design, right?
If you're playing a deck where you can immediately activate it's deathrattle without killing it, then it's not bad. Otherwise if you kill it instantly you would be spending mana to get a 7/7 for 6 mana + activation card. But with the new cards like Reckless Experimenter it's fairly great, but there are other cards that work the same way as well, so it doesn't feel like anything special to me.
And how do you beat combo and fast decks like Zoo with that value strategy?
It doesn't really do well against hyper aggressive decks like zoolock, unless you can get amara quickly. I did manage to beat druid 4 out of 4 times. The deathrattles are just too much for their removal.

No
It's pretty good. I'm playing Deathrattle Rogue with it and having very good results so far.

It's really good as a pick for Dr.Boom's discover omega card and hero power because of the rush, but not much else.
Personally mechanical whelp in death rattle rogue has crushed me every time.
