I have a very quick question - since when Void Ripper became such a popular inclusion?
I don't play ranked that much (taking a break until the expansion hits), but in casual mode in both standard and wild I see this card popping up from time to time. What am I missing?
Today I saw this in odd paladin...
Is it used to counter sticky taunts like Voidlord? Or something else?
It removes Doomsayers, Mana tide (and totems in general), in odd pala, it can help you push through taunts, and in some cases it gives you a burst of damage.

It's a good tech card to Odd Rogue and Odd Paladin, because it helps you against Spreading Plague or to get good trades. In Odd Paladin, you can turn buffs like Raid Leader's aura into health, an incredible tool in the mirror match.
Cause 0 attacks minions are always in the meta (Doomsayer, Mana Tide Totem) and also like 90% of the meta taunts happen to be high health and low attack or at least very killable after the health/attack switch for example the spiders from Spreading Plague or Sleepy Dragon, also the fact that it can allow for better trading or just simply more damage to the face, it's overall an amazing tech card that's both teffective against fast and slow decks.

Thanks for your time.
In addition to what those above said, Voidripper is really an AOE spell. It does "x" damage to those minions it flips. So if you flipping a Druid's Scarabs, Voidripper just did 4 damage to each of them.
Obviously, it's not that cut and dry - but the decks including it are usually build in a way to take advantage of Rippy flippy, e.g. all of Paladin's dudes are 1/1 anyway.
As noted above, it also provides burst damage in things like Cube Hunter (flipping Grizzly's to 12 attack), or it can "heal" your minions that have traded.
Thanks once again. Ah, yes, now I remember how I saw this being used in recruit hunter, in order to get massive damage from the bears. Thx for the reminder.
I was just curious, because the last time I saw this card was in K&C Innerfire Priest and I was curious about the inclusion of this in Odd Paladin, because the deck doesn't run many high health minions except Corridor Creeper & Stonehill Defender.
But I get it. It's mainly used to counter sticky taunts, Doomsayers and totems.
there are a lot of high health taunts as well that it can help you deal with. just don't trade into them with your hero power as rogue though as you end up taking 12 damage to face each time which kills you pretty fast.
I think Odd Rogue and Pala tend to run 2 of them, where as Zoo runs 1 and 1 Spellbreaker.
I personally only run one in my Odd Pala I think, but my Odd Rogue I have 2 as you do a lot of trading and it can really help with that. Not only that but you can use it offensively as well to give minions like dire mole 3 attack when trying to push extra damage or needing to trade something away. It can turn Tar Creeper into an utter beast as well.
