I guess we will see. Either it will enable control warrior (or any warrior) into a tier 1 or 2 deck and I'll be COMPLETELY wrong, or it'll be used for 2-3 weeks in experimentation and not seen again for the rest of this rotation and I'll be completely correct.
It's not that I think Boom "makes" control warrior. Control Warrior is already made. It just lacked the value hero power in the end game that let it compete with other late game Death Knight decks.
And while the hero power appears to be random, it largely isn't. Micro-squad deals 3 damage to a minion (thanks to rush). Zap cannon deals 3 damage. Delivery Drone will discover a mech (probably 3 attack or higher), who then rushes to do damage to a minion. Blast Shield gains armor. Kaboom is whirlwind.
So 4/5 options deal damage of 3 or more. half of those 4 create minion bodies to do the damage if needed. It looks a lot more inconsistent on the surface than I believe it actually is.
With a new set on the horizon, let's see how I did. Before going over this, I am going to guess that I did pretty poorly in rating this set. I really thought it would be one of the most interesting sets released in a long while, and it just wasn't.
That said, here's the rating scale for my review of the review. Reminder, my initial rating scale was a 1-4.

Noteworthy Neutrals: Mech'thun: 2 stars - Slightly underrated Zilliax: 3 stars - Slightly underrated Subject 9: 2 stars - Slightly underrated Crystalizer: 3 stars - Overrated Giggling Inventor: 4 stars - NAILED IT. I knew this was the best card in the set from the get go and was among the first to say it needed to be nerfed. Then it was.
All in all, I actually wasn't that far off. I really missed on a few Tank Up Warrior cards. I could have been higher on Deathrattle Rogue. And I was overly hopeful for a Midrange/Control Paladin.
In hindsight, I correctly rated very many cards quite low, and that's probably why Boomsday didn't have much of an impact. The highs were high, but they fit into preexisting shells (Floop, Electra, Dr. Boom). Most of the cards I missed on were cards that would be new decks, and they never came to be. I think the fact that Odd and Even decks exist exacerbate this problem.
That said, I'm still hopeful for a few things out of this set after rotation. Pogo-Hopper (while a boring deck) fills a role similar to Quest Rogue and Jade Druid. I think Paladin has a lot going in its favor with Kangor's Army.
I would argue that your review is fairly spot on, I would just add that Crystalsmith Kangor is slightly underrated. It is one of the key factors in the return of even paladin,

That's a fair read. I rated it a 2, and I guess it is slightly better than that. It feels weird calling it a full 3 though. If I did half points, it would certainly be about a 2.5.
Zilliax is easily a 5 star along with giggling. Subject 9 would at least be a 4 as it made secret midrange hunter t1 eternium rover dynomatic and super collider are easily 4 stars minimum for warrior

Thanks for the read! :)
Yeah, that's why I said slightly, like with a bit more support (who knows what the new set brings) it might easily become a full 3 then. I plan on making a midrange paladin (not even), with corpsetakers, zilliax and kangor when expansion hits. It feels like they are pushing midrange/control paladin and it could be fun.
Zilliax is easily a 5 star along with giggling. Subject 9 would at least be a 4 as it made secret midrange hunter t1 eternium rover dynomatic and super collider are easily 4 stars minimum for warrior
My ratings are 1 to 4. So giving Zilliax and Giggling a 4 is as high as I could go :)
I thought you did pretty good, actually. This one was really surprising to me, too:
Cosmic Anomaly: 1 star - Very underrated Shooting Star: 1 star - Very underrated
The idea that removal would find its way into tempo mage with Shooting Star. And while Cosmic Anomaly is a decently statted minion that synergizes well with a few other spells, it's the shooting star combo that makes it an auto-include, I think.
I think this is a great card and one of the additions that made control/dragon priest playable this season. Whether it's stabilizing late game (love a good Psychic Scream + Omega Medic turn 10 play) or just sticking a nice, tradeable 3/4 body on curve, this card is powerful and versatile.
I'm grouping these because I think it's a pretty nice addition to even Shaman as a discover effect. Against armor classes, Bloodlust doesn't always get it done. Being able to leverage a wide board for more than one turn is pretty handy.
I also suspect that some of these Paladin cards will creep into the meta and be pretty powerful at some point. None really fit into/supplant odd Paladin, but there are some really interesting tools there for a slower Pally variant if the meta supports it some day.
No, its staple in most Paladin decks (besides odd )
Here's the thing about it though - is it actually good? Are you ever like "yeah! I drew Kangor!!!!"
It's a card you actively never want in your hand. If Paladin wasn't playing Corpsetaker, it wouldn't run this. And, while its played in all even paladins, I wouldn't even say it's necessary. There are plenty of other ways to put lifesteal and divine shield on your Taker, especially for budget players. Kangor is just more efficient.
TL;DR Kangor sees play because Corpsetaker is good, not the other way around.
So like I said above, maybe it's slightly better than a 2 out of 4. But calling it a 3 out of 4 just seems too high. Is this a better card than something like Doubling Imp, which is a pretty solid 3?
I come by it honestly! I let myself be talked out of it. In some of my earliest posts about it, I was higher on the card. Still not as high on it as it ended up being, but much better than a 1.

The fact you gave pogo hopper a 1 baffles me.
I feels like a weaker version of the Quest deck to me.
It's not that I think Boom "makes" control warrior. Control Warrior is already made. It just lacked the value hero power in the end game that let it compete with other late game Death Knight decks.

Updated to include Necrium Blade, which was missing from my original review. It got lost in the transfer from my word doc.
