If Mage can already draw 3 cards for 2 mana, why would you play this card? (besides memes) I don't understand people saying it's anything more than 'Playable'. I'm not saying everyone else is wrong. I just want to know what I'm missing here.
For the same reason that big spell mage ran coldlight oracle. It lets you draw and not get ahead in fatigue vs other control decks.
well, fatigue mage in wild withdeath lord and Echo of Medivh [/card][card] coldlight oracle is something, but that's because wild still has access to Ice Block, in standard will be way harder to play this card, not impossible but i don't think it's a card you just jam in every mage deck ever.
Really strong in the same kind of super aggressive burn decks you used to play Coldlight in. This is better in that deck because it’s cheaper and synergies with spell stuff. Only problem is you don’t have Ice Lance anymore like you did then.
This is a potential counter to Shudderwock in more aggressive decks. It gets you cards faster and you dont care if they draw, because you are going to making them burn cards faster than they can use them up.
If you could ever get a hold of the Shaman elemental through Discover effects, you could double this effect. 4 cards will surely burn cards for your opponent.
