I've been in deep thought designing my control mage deck and recently found out about Mecha'thun. Of course I added him. That got me thinking, how many other people want to use Mecha'thun? I decided that these decks would try and draw out fast (mine doesn't) with some shenanigans, like druid using Invigorate+ naturalize on theirs. I knew I needed a counter, and came up with it, The Darkness is a great card to help. You need big mid-game minions to help beat them down too. Overwhelm their hard removal. Just check out my deck here to see what I'm talking about. Try not to down-vote like everyone on the mage forum, LOL...SMH. No hope for this world.
I think you're really over estimating the effect of cthun on the meta if you think the darkness is a good idea.... Otherwise the deck looks interesting.
The best counter to Mecha'Thun is Nerubian Unraveler. I haven't heard of a combo that doesn't use spells, so you wait until they only have their combo in hand (they have to play all other cards first) play Unraveler and they cannot have an answer
There is one big problem with using The Darkness to counter Mecha'thun and that is that your opponent will immediately draw all the candles if they don't have any cards left in their deck, which is essential to the Mecha'Thun combo.
I`ll try mecha`Thun in a deathrattle priest as a huge minion. Priest can summon & resummons it million times while his health is 40 (several times). So get ready!

i can tell you all the best games.

You already have Polymorphs that should counter Mecha-thun.
Assuming it will still be played after 1 week of failed attempts to make it work.
It's a freaking deathrattle effect, not battlecry. Every silence/hex/polymorph counters this
Man..Just use skulking geist to destroy naturalize..the darkness is a fascinating but bad idea imo..
The whole point of mechathun Decke is to Trigger the de yourself so it cant silenced
that's why you destroy it the turn it's played so that doesn't happen.
I tried having fun once. It was awful.

Not really
Don't mind me just passing by

Yeah, you are right. Im stupid. Didn't think about combo situations
I made an experimental druid Mecha'Thun deck, but it can be countered with Skulking Geist. https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1153672-mechathun-druid
Hmeeh!

I’m more amazed that people are this invested in being worried about Mecha’thun
if someone pulled this silly shit off on me I deserve that loss, the conditions are pretty steep
The only thing that the darkness can counter is your side of the board.
