I think Blizzard gave us one of the most unique and curious cards I've ever laid my eyes on.
Whizbang the Wonderful is exactly that. Wonderful! Plus it is an Alternate Hero, so get ready for some exquisite and unicornly new lines!
Yes, it is not a competitive card (or is it?) and it will probably become some sort of Archbishop Benedictus meme card style. But the fact that we got ourselves 540 cards included in ONE legendary? This is ridiculous!
F2P/New players got another great addition to their collection. A new way to experiment and try out new decks before perhaps blindly crafting new stuff. Of course, it would be even better if they gave Whizbang the Wonderful AND Prince Malchezaar as gifts in a Starter Pack, but this is a start.
And who knows, if this cards becomes the F2P/New Players BFF, maybe Blizzard could even consider adding it to the Classic Set before rotation? I think this would be amazing!
All I know is, we got in our hands a unique mechanic that can be rewarding for new players and the avid players too.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm really hoping my "free" Golden Legendary from the pre-purchase is this dude over here. Having hundreds of golden cards for some nice card art appreciation while testing out Blizzards Recipes doesn't seem bad, especially if that's all triggered by one single card! And I need to confess that it would help to keep Hearthstone fun at some stale meta times.
I'm excited to see who will be able to take this Alternate Hero to Legend first. The Boomsday Project just became, to me, one of the most hyped expansions ever!!
Noob question : If he’s golden do you think your deck will be golden? Also it says your hero becomes whiz bang the wonderful but is it actually going to be rogue if you get the rogue deck ? Will the hero and hero power be golden then or just normal?

Check out my Earth, Wind, and Fire - Elemental Shaman deck!
Yep, I totally agree. I'd love to get him from packs for sure. Maybe, honestly, if it takes too long and I won't get him, I might even craft. I'm thrilled that it's also a hero card besides his effect. Would be nice to try some Blizz recipies since, more so in the past than now, used to find myself a couple of legends or epics too short to crafting them.
Also, a lot of ppl would probably hate since he's for sure not gonna be meta, due to all the random but screw them, innit.:)))))
Its a cool card for people that are never going to be competitive or spend any money on the game. You will get to use deck recipes for any class and have all the cards.
I love this card for new or just casual players with smaller collections. But that is the extent of it. I like experimenting and creating my own decks, this card just gives out pre-canned decks which leaves little room to really experiment with it.

That's the fun part! A golden Whizbang the Wonderful equals all of the 540 cards available in the 18 recipes, golden! Not just that, he's an Alternate Hero for all classes so he and the hero power (from the class you get) will also be golden!! They didn't specify if he will have an unique hero power though, so who knows? Maybe he even comes with something unique like a 2 mana HP "exchange a card in your hand for a random one in your deck" or whatever lol
I agree with all the folks who are downplaying the hype in that this card is most relevant to newer players with smaller collections, but that alone is worth everything to a game that needs to find a way to constantly attract new players.
There probably ought to be a serious discussion about graduating this guy to the classic set. I think the devs hit on a very good concept in accessibility here, and I think Hearthstone needs this guy for the long haul.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
Well I have 2 chances to get him golden for free seeing as I pre-ordered both, but if i'm not lucky enough to get him from those then I will probably just craft him golden as it's a great meme card and who doesn't like playing with a full golden deck right. :D

Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.
He is nice for new players but if you have many of the cards from the deck recipes he isn't that special. I'd much rather Renounce Darkness my memes for sure.

Yes! You said it all. My collection is pretty good, I'll be pre-ordering one of the Boomsday Project bundles but what is really exciting me about this card is the fact that it is such a great concept! 1600 dust to unlock viable decks for all classes? Yes please! All new players need this. So why not bring it to the Classic Set?
And it will be pretty cool to have a Golden one since I dust all my golden cards, and he could also be something quite interesting and fun to use even for a guy that's been around for a while. I can finally fulfil my dream of playing a golden The Coin hahahaha
I will never understand why people think golden cards are a big deal. It really really boggles my mind.
A golden deck, not card. That’s the real appeal here. Pretty cool if yo ask me.
A golden deck is composed of single golden cards, no? Do those golden cards give any special abilities?? No? It's pixel bling...pretty worthless, IMO. But hey, if it makes you feel better about yourself....go and waste 3200 dust on it, lol.
People that go apeshit over golden cards are the same ones that take out a huge loan to buy a Corvette at the age of 55.

Chill man, all that's being said is that one card that potentially gives out 500ish golden cards, is pretty cool. I don't care about golden cards at all. Like I said earlier, I dust all my golden cards for that sweet extra dust that can give me some good cards. But seriously, a card that can make you have so many golden cards is insane! See Renounce Darkness. I love that shit. It's not only fun, but really good sometimes. All that's being said is, if ONE CARD, can give you hundreds or even thousands of golden cards and deck recipes for Standard and Wild, what's the big deal of spending some dust for it?
This is a game after all. We're here to have fun, right? And honestly, having only really shiny, moving cards in eighteen different decks, will definitely make me happy. I don't need a Corvette lol.

Whoa whoa settle down there. People like what they like. Whats wrong with people who buy corvette's at the age of 55 anyway? That sounds like you are trying to be insulting but I am not sure whats insulting about it?
It's game we are here for fun. You don't find golden cards fun, some do. The point is to have fun and that is purely subjective.
As avid as I usually am against bringing cards to the classic set, I must agree that Whizbang is perhaps the strongest contender (mainly because he would never work if he rotated out, since recipes don't stand a chance in Wild Mode). This card looks like a great idea brought to life, and the best part is that he will still be relevant with each expansion since recipes are constantly updated.

Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
Also a noob question, but if you get a Baku deck with him, I'm guessing you'll get the upgraded hero power still? So his "Start of game" mechanic will obviously replace the Baku "Start of game"?
I think this card might be a little ridiculous lol. What if you put him in a Tavern Brawl where you are only allowed X number of cards? Haha.

It's certainly not a meta-defining defining card...you won't be getting to legend or winning any tournaments.
And yet, it's the best card they have created.
When I introduce friends to the game, I'll advise them to craft this guy as their first goal. Only after that, will I suggest some budget decks of basics/commons and a few rares.
In the past, Blizzard's premade decks have been pretty bad, but they have got better in recent expansions. Looking at some of them now, there's Even Paladin, Spell Hunter, Control Warlock, Elemental Mage, OTK Priest - all decent decks.
A relatively new player with a little bit of sense should be able to play these to Rank 10.
I might craft him golden...then again, I'm the sort of despicable individual who has two golden Renounce Darkness. I love that some people get upset by that.
