Yes, playable and fair... reminds me of the Handbuff mechanic .... Also people get way too hyped about the magnetic aspect. For a midrange Paladin it can be quite hard to have minions stick to the board, and with the weak carddraw in Paladin, those Mechs better be good/very good by themselves, because the competition at the 4 mana slot is huge.
Already amazing in Wild as there are Nightmare Amalgam and Spider Tank to make it super consistent. And if there is a new 3-cost Mech, it will also be amazing in Standard. Just think of it as a +2/+4 +Divine Shield for a mech deck that can also be played as a minion. Amazing.
The main point, as has already been mentioned, is that Divine Shield is much, much better on Charge/Rush minons or as a Buff than it is on a minion with summoning sickness.
This depends on your ability to start the turn with a mech still in play, of course.
My big prediction for the new meta is that eveyone learns to prioritise killing mechs ON SIGHT for fear of a magnetised monstrosity.

Well if they invest 5 dmg to kill a mana 1/5 you pull ahead very fast. Nowadays every deck tryes to pull his own broken combo, they cant have all the removal or silence for Mechs.
