@funPolice749 back in koft I had a big argument about bear shark being bad in hunter cause of the 3 drop spot in hunter is very similar to paladin.. in the end hunter was terrible in koft meta but when hunter actually got the light of the day bear shark was one of the better cards in midrange hunter.
The point is that if the mana cost is contested it doesn't mean the card can't be playable , specially with the witchwood even/odd mechanic which make crowded mana slots more playable.
it's less realiable of a buff than BoK but if you don't have any minion in play this is better, anyway the important thing is not if this card is good in a vaccum, but if this card alongside the expected neutral and paladin mechs is good enough.
it'snot clear yet how good this is in such deck.. maybe you really want the taunt cause aggro decks are everywhere... or maybe it's garbage we will see in the coming weeks.
Starting Point: Lone Champion is a good card. This costs 1 more, that's pretty bad. It doesn't have the summoning condition, that's good. It has magnetic synergy, that's probably pretty good.
I'd say this is an above average card.
Assuming we're talking about constructed I would say lone champion is a pretty bad card based on the fact it pretty much hasn't seen any play since it's release (and I know recruit hunter runs a single copy but it's a tier 2 deck and only runs a single copy anyway). On top of that it's a paladin card and paladin has a super heavily contested 4 drop slot (Truesilver, Concencrate, BoK, even Saronite kinda) and this doesn't seem like it does enough. A 2/4 statline is awful for 4 mana (even with divine shield and taunt) as it kills practically nothing at that point in the game. Of course magnetic might have some utility but that also means you're running other mechs and to me it seems as though magnetic is a mechanic that cares about tempo not defensive power which this card has the latter but not the former.
can be seen as a 2/4 buff with divine shield and taunt you lose 2 attack over blessing of kings for divine shield os wuite a good tempo card since then you can trade with a minion and keep the hp.
if seen as a minion it's bad but maybe some magnetic cards should be seens as buffs ( assuming you run a heavy mech deck of course)
and maybe paladin gets a mech inquisitor (?)) I mean like the 1/3 murloc) but for mechs to you can more consistently produce mechs with your hero power.
If we're running this as a buff I would still prefer BoK since it hits any minion and that 2 extra attack makes minions alot harder hitting where this is more defensive kinda like a 4 mana like Spikeridged Steed but severely lacking in the stats. My main issue is this being a 4 drop since like I said before Paladin has alot, alot of good 4 drops so this card seems like it just won't make the cut in the end. Granted if Paladin gets some really good mechs than maybe you just run this as a 4 cost mech but even then I think BoK is just more useful to play unless the meta becomes really aggressive in which the taunt might be the part to make this see play.
This is better if you don’t have anything on board (obviously not as big of a deal with Paladin and the button) as well as if you are facing opponents with good single target removal but poor AoE. Rogue can sap you BOK minion, but they can’t flamestrike a board with three minions.
That versatility has value, but the question is if t has enough value. Also, even if it is objectively worse than BOK, you might want to still run it (see argent squire)
They should always be evaluated like a buff spell rather than a minion. Then, the upside of getting a free 0 Mana 0/0 mech if you don't have anything else to cast it on slightly outweighs the downside of only being able to target mechs. So rate it as a buff and then bump that up a tiny bit and you have it.
Do we know if Silence will negate the stats of a post-Magnetic minion? Obviously Silence would remove the Taunt and the Divine Shield, but Deathstalker Rexxar's Zombeasts have permanently-changed base statlines, for example, and it's possible that this might work the same.
However, I notice from the videos that the stats do go green after Magnetic, so that probably means Silence eats the entire Magnetic buff-minion, stats and all. I'd just be interested in getting confirmation.
I'm totally unclear about this too and am unsure if they've cleared this up definitively. Anyone know this for sure or has a source? Otherwise we really don't know until they tell us, making these predictions premature.

If you thought you knew what you think I know, then you'd know I knew you knew I know.
"silence riins it" is not an excuse why a card isn't good, your opponent has 1 or 2 silences maximum if he silence this magnetic effect (which has "charge" sometimes) he won't silence spikeridge steed or another buff/silence effect.
It is an excuse if the buff isn't powerful enough, the only buff that comes close is Spikeridged Steed. There is a reason Paladin decks based around buffs are terrible, and having this as a standalone 2/4 is still not making the cut in those lists (especially as a 4 drop).
Starting Point: Lone Champion is a good card. This costs 1 more, that's really bad. It doesn't have the summoning condition, that's decent. It has magnetic synergy, that's probably pretty good.
I'd say this is an average card. Magnet decks need to be good to play this over other options. But also, Corpsetaker synergy.
Lone champion has a huge downside to fulfill his condition. Annoy-omodule doesn't. Plus you can use magnetic on top of it. This card is lots better.
Don't underestimate this card, divine shield is very good as a buff, because it often allows you to trade against a bigger minion and take no damage in the process. As a standalone card its not great, but as a +2/+4, destroy your opponents 3 drop (or a bigger minion later game), it could be pretty decent.
Fair point, but back then the general powerlevel was much lower, and you could play it on any minion!
Ok this guy offers an additional divineshield, but do you know how big of a difference one mana is ? That’s literally from unplayable ( in constructed ) , to OP pls nerf Level.
This is very good and powerful. If you have the coin, you will have a very strong turn 3.
Turn 2 Upgradeable Framebot. Turn 3, coin and then this with Magnetic.
You get a 3/9 Divine Shield, Taunt on turn 3. If you hit your curve, on turn 1 with any 1 drop, you are talking about a very difficult early board to deal with.
If Paladin gets any other Magnetic or mech support, this is going to be a very good card.
And Call to Arms on 4 (with coin) can grab, Framebot and any other cheap costing mechs, so that on turn 5 you have Zilliax.
Also turn 3 Amalgam into this is really strong as well, without the coin.
@DoubleSummon I agree that we'll have to see whether or not this will be worth it in a mech paladin based on the other mechs that haven't been revealed but even than the meta probably has to be aggro based for this to be worth running since taunt and the lower attack is very weak vs control decks but gives paladin a good defensive tool. But yeah you're right in saying that the cards power is mostly based on what the meta turns out to be and the support we get for it.

I have a theory about magnetic mechs.

.... that can only land on Mechs. Pretty important drawback. However, it is playable by itself to negate part of that drawback. Seems balanced.
It is an excuse if the buff isn't powerful enough, the only buff that comes close is Spikeridged Steed. There is a reason Paladin decks based around buffs are terrible, and having this as a standalone 2/4 is still not making the cut in those lists (especially as a 4 drop).

whether or not this card is good, He's the cutest bot on this side of the Netherstorm.

Only if they print good mechs to target and even then... Think of Argent Protector but more restricted.
I just watched Trumps YT review where he said , they only release Mech-class cards for Hunter,Warrior and Paladin.
I really hope Mechs don’t become the same useless fiasco , handbuff was , back in Meanstreets.
edit: Actually, Handbuff was probably fine, more that Kazakus and Jades were out of line.

I voted "Playable",because it's still too early to say.
This card can be good,it all depends on what's to come.

I love how everyone completely disregards Mechwarper
play some busted one drop and then 2 3 curve this to have a 4/7 divine shield taunt on turn 3
But we just got rid of Psych-o-Tron.....Annoy-o-Trons are still going to stick around
Divine shield 2 mana mech attack then play this value is here boys
I predict a 2 mana 1/1 poisonous mech with magnetic.
