A lot of people say that Twig of the World Tree is countered by weapon removal, but is that totally true? It says It gives you 10 mana crystals. So if you equip it turn 4, and the opponent destroys it next turn, wouldn’t that mean you have 10 mana crystals on turn 5?
Im asking because I want to craft it, but before doing so I want to make sure I fully understand it’s mechanics. If the weapon is removed, I understand that that can take away a combo with Malygos or Togwaggle, but if removed early in the game wouldn’t I be still getting a decent ramp to 10 mana crystals?
I haven’t seen many games with it so that’s why I’m unsure of the specifics. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
Well, the weapon is used on really specific turns in order to have 10 *extra* mana crystals. If it's destroyed early you get the mana crystals in the wrong turn making a combo deck harder to use.
But you still retain those mana crystals right? I mean, sure your combo is screwed up, but having 10 mana crystals on turn 5 or 6 can help swing the game in your favor still right? That’s the part I’m confused about. It still seems awesome regardless, yet a lot of people say it’s a meme card. It seems OP to me. What am I missing?
If you equip it on turn 4 and the opponent destroys it immediately, you are playing against an idiot. If you have an ooze and the Druid has still not 10 mana, you should wait until the weapon has 1durability. Then he is ramping from 8 to 10 but cannot use the 10 extra mana additionally.
But ramping is not the goal of twig. It is ideally meant to give you a combo turn wit togwaggle or malygos. And most often you “just” get a high tempo turn by playing some cards, breaking the twig and playing more cards (in particular combined with ultimate infestation). So if your opponent destroys the twig on his turn and you already have 10 mana, you will not get the extra mana.
Twig of the world tree takes enough swings that you're already at 10 Mana when you break it if you equip on turn 4. Your opponent would be foolish to break it then and give u 6 free Mana, but they can wait until you're already at 9/10 Mana and break your combo.
Is there enough weapon removals being teched to make this risky? Am I right to assume that decks like Togwaggle and Malygos Druid are better with Twig?
Im currently playing the Maly Druid deck that was in the deck spotlights last week and it doesn’t have Twig. It’s been pretty fun, but on HSReplay all Maly decks run Twig, same as Mill Druid. Would Twig optimize these decks?
This is true but who, with half a brain cell would just destroy their weapon on turn 5 ramping the druid for 10 mana? Yo know you can just save the ooze right? There's no way anyone would break it immediatly, if you play it on turn 4 I just save my ooze and break it before your turn 8 just ramping you for 2 and fucking your combo up.

Your opponent will just wait until you have 1 durability left and then remove it
