I never have a ton of dust, and I want a fun yet successful deck, is shudderwock at all viable for this endeavor? Other "fun" deck suggestions are welcome
A deck based around the shudderwock OTK doesn't have a great winrate and isn't fun past the occasional few games where you do the combo and giggle about it.
It would be a very strong card if Genn wasn't the only upper tier shaman deck. If it was 8 cost or even 10 cost it would be really great. It's solid in an elemental deck but it's not that successful of a deck.
I recently crafted Hagatha and I find her far more powerful than shudderwok. She also applies to more decks and strategies.
Sure shamans have some bad spells in their pool, but more often than not the spells provided from her are useful, and highly unpredictable for the opponent.
I was going to throw up 2 Shudder variants later when I get home. I’ll cone back here and link it.
The Shudderwock OTK doesn’t have a great success rate, but I’ve been doing wonderful with some zoo type decks that utilize a lot of buffs.
In this style of deck he’s an alternate and powerful win condition to retake the board. Example would be dropping him on turn 9 and getting 3 shudders on the board with taunt and something like an 8/8 stat line.
I think this style of deck might come into vogue after the nerfs.
If you want OTK shudder then no, those are terrible no matter what but if you want to try it there are some midrange variants that only use the shudder as a late game threat and you also have the full elemental package, the deck is expensive tho, you need shudder, hagatha, grumble and kalimos and a few epics, if you like it then just look for the shudderwock list from Asmodai, he climbed this season from rank 5 to around 150 legend playing nthing bt that shaman so the deck is definitely viable.
I'm not aware of any competitive tier Standard decks that use it though. It's a strong ability and I'd wager that as time goes and more battlecry minions are added to the game it will get better and better.
For the moment, if you're looking to build competitive Standard decks, there's probably better choices for your dust.

However the games usually take too long, and most are stressful, because you're always struggling to survive. The trick is not to depend on the OTK combo, except vs slow control lists. It's possible to out-value a lot of decks. Still, there are always the cases were you draw bad, the opponent draws great, and you get steamrolled.
The match-ups are similar to Quest Rogue, but less polarizing.
Also, as others have said, even without the combo, Shudderwock is quite a value machine, especially in Wild. I still want to try an evolve deck with it.
Despite all my praise for the card and the decks that use it, I don't think it is worth it to craft it, if you want a reliable deck to climb. For now, it is mostly a card for fun. I myself climbed with Odd Paladin (judge me), because it is fast, and only after I got to rank 5, I started to play the Wock again.

Listen to this guy. I've been playing a very similar list to Asmo's recently and it is A TON of fun. Definitely viable.
I'm just going to throw this out there, I reached rank 3 from rank 7 only climbing with a Shudderwock OTK/Hagatha/Unstable Evolution list. The only deck I struggle to beat are aggro mages. People saying it's not viable for climbing ladder are also no doubt the people who only play meta lists like even pally and spend their afternoons begging for warlock nerfs despite the deck not being overpowered.
I usually do fun decks an theme one´s. I made one i called "Crazy Witch" and it can realy stand it´s ground. It´s totally fun. Sometimes you are busy not to get too much cards. :-). Unfortunately it dust heavy to craft.
I went 8-1 with the version without murmering and fire plume to rank 3 yesterday. Since you can cut a lot of stuff in favour of more removal, I was able to beat 2 even Paladins.
Not super viable, but it sure beats the hell out of priest :)

No - Shudderwock is not "viable"
Define "fun" - Aggro, Control, Combo, Tempo, or Midrange deck?

"Everyone! Get in here!"
"Fun" doesn't really fall under an archetype, but if I had to pick I'd go for combo, because those are typically the most satisfying decks to win with

Try my Shudderwock Reno deck in wild (see signature) !
As other people have already said on this thread, it is preety good in Wild. I'm using him on a Jade Shaman deck with very good results so far.
I am playing Shudderwok with Marin the Fox. I have a 40 percent win rate! lol but the games i win are amazing. Rank 5
Last season I went from rank 5 to 2 with the following list:
