Are there any answers to Spiteful Summoner that become available at turn 7? Sure, warlocks might be a turn closer to Twisting Nether and priest can play Psychic Scream instantly (although I dont feel like Psychic Scream is a very good answer) but all other potential answers to kill one or two targets are already available. Yes, aggro gets a better shot at killing you but I feel like druid can still defend pretty well against those decks with Crypt Lord.
It has been stated multiple times that the current problem of the card is the small pool of outcomes (there are 5 10 mana minions in standard atm). Why didn't they go for either increasing that pool with a shit card, or change an existing card. Giving Deathwing a deathrattle that makes you discard your entire hand as well for example could work pretty well, since it does not change anything for people who just play deathwing (they discard their hand anyways) but would be a pretty if it is summoned by Spiteful Summoner and gets triggered right away. That is just one example but I think something along that line would have been a more elegant and probably more impactful solution.
Ehhh, I have two of these in golden...I want to claim my 3200 dust, but it looks like it will still be playable. Bloody hell, Blizzard!
But seriously, I only played Spiteful Dragon Priest in Wild and it was barely a meta deck in its current form, moving to 7 mana is a significant hit. It's a lot weaker in Wild as Mind Control usually brings out Old Gods and there are more ways of dealing with big stuff.
Spiteful Druid in Standard won't suffer much, if they get a Greedy Sprite killed you'll still be saying hello to Tyrantus on turn 6.
Looks like a simple way to reduce this card's power without necessarily killing it. Since my opponent will have at least 7 mana the turn after I play this, it seems like they would have a fairer chance of dealing with it.
simply put, the most offending class that is using this card is druid. druids don't care if summoner is 6 or 7 because they are going to ramp into it and cast it on turn 5 or 6 with the spell card being ultimate infestation at 10
if the devs were serious about nerfing spiteful summoner, they would have made ultimate infestation to 7 mana with reduced effects. (3/3, draw 3 and 3 damage)
I don’t like the nerf. The main issue with spiteful was not the 16/16 worth of stats on turn 6 (though it still is pretty bullshit) because most control decks have a way of dealing with it, but the fact that spiteful decks can KEEP the spells after using it. The spells in spiteful decks are really high value and can still find worth even after the two summons are dealt with.
not sure if the nerf is enough, but i kinda like how soft blizzard went with the nerfs this time. and for spiteful summoner i think the nerf should at least be good enough to bridge the time till the next set. if it still seems too strong then, they might just add a low-roll to the 10-drop pool.

I feel like spiteful decks were barely playable when it was 6 mana. Sure, a turn 6 12/12 could instantly lose you the game, but 90% of the time, their lack of spells would easily win me the game. Anyways, the chances of them getting spiteful by turn 6 weren't very high anyways, and the increased value spike was usually easily overturned with my own spells. Honestly, spiteful has a much lower winrate than the criticism advocates, and a 7 mana nerf will probably make it completely inferior.
All this whining about spiteful is so offbase. First of all, bgh is a complete tech against it that is useful in more than one matchup. Second, spiteful decks are so predictable without the spells. You don't have to play around any aoe or spells. This nerf is 100% the product of the incessant whining that has completely ruined video gaming over the last 15 years.

I couldn't get past rank 6+2 star with control warlock and that's my most played class too. Switched to spiteful druid and hit rank 5+5 stars, almost made rank 4 pre nerf. I am going to try it out post nerf and see. Oh and I don't even have the druid DK either, still did better than warlock. Also most of the time spiteful gave me an 8/8 and I never drew keleseth turn 2, still had a high winrate.

I have seen 0 BGH in the last few weeks. Spiteful druid was broken OP to the point it did better than my control warlock despite no DK and bad draws and rolling mostly 8/8 from spitefuls. I bet spiteful is still OP at 7 mana.
Well the nerf made officially no difference, the ladder is still infested with spiteful druids and 1 more mana is barely noticeable when you're cheating it out earlier anyways

I’m glad it didn’t change too much. 7 is fine.
