In my opinion Blizzard uses add a random legendary to your possession as a crutch for Legendary Card design and that Prince Liam is a prime example of this. Compared to Face Collector which uses one of the new keywords, has synergies with the recently supported deck archetype Burgle Rogue due to potentially adding class specific legendaries, and is placed with a class that can ultilize battlecries like no other, and Toki, Time Tinkerer which despite also being an example of this, at least puts an interesting spin on the mechanic by only adding Wild only Legendaries, and is value enough for its cost for it to be useful in slower Mage decks.
Whilst Prince Liam is a crap card that was most likely made, because one of the gimmicks of Paladin is playing low cost cards from the deck and with the whole "add a random legendary to your possession" slapped on it because they couldn't think of anything good.
I honestly don't see how this card is good at all beyond decent stats for its cost and due to most legendary minions being atleast decent, Because it goes against what aggressive Paladin decks are about, Mid-Range and Control Paladin decks most likely prefer the deck thinning other Paladin cards like Call to Arms, Mysterious Challenger and Bellringer Sentry provide, with the rest just straight up not considering it at all!
The best I can think of is using it while you only have a few 1 mana cost cards in your deck late in the game as the random Legendaries may be more helpful and its relatively high stats, which atleast doesn't mean its useless, just bad.
Though while I will admit the whole getting random Legendaries can be fun, I hope they don't use it as much in the future and that if they do they at least attempt to make it interesting and good, because we keep getting Legendary cards in the new expansions that keep having the damn effect and its getting annoying when they could of made atleast interesting and unique cards like The Glass Knight and Chameleos in its place.
We’ve seen this effect with Prince Malchezar, and it’s not very good. Instead of morphing your deck into one with late game, why not just play some late game?

The benefit comes vs aggro. 1 drop spells/minions are good to get a foot in the door but are "useless" later on vs control. Liam increases the topdeck quality for later in the game without drafting too greedy ala Prince Malchezar whichs legendaries are most likely a bad topdeck during turn 1-5.
Overall I don't think the quality of random legendaries is that bad, especially because we have a smaller set of cards. Some midrange/control pala play Elise Starseeker and I think Liam can be the same or better card in comparsion because it gets rid of your 1 drops and most likely more/better legendaries than Elise via Ungoro pack.
Lich King is a dead card vs aggro/tempo. 1 drops aren't and Liam is a decent 5drop. Sometimes you have to play the lesser greedy minions to climb ladder.

Since when is paladin ever on top deck mode vs control when divine favor exists? Against aggro mirror, congrats you just passed your turn 5 while they ignore your vanilla 5 drop and just push face damage or gain board control. At least lich king has taunt.
1 drops in an aggro paladin deck are far more useful than random legendaries in any match up. First of all, they make call to arms more consistent. Secondly, they make dumping your hand easier while you draw as many cards as possible with divine favor. Why you would ignore and make weaker the core power cards in aggro paladin that is call to arms and divine favor with this useless 5 drop that is the antithesis of synergy in an aggro deck is beyond me.
I agree, Liam sucks in aggro paladin because divine favor is much better but I never said I would play him in aggrodin, my argument was that Liam is better vs aggressive decks compared to high cost/power legendaries. I will test him in midrange/control paladin.
I will even test him in a Baku paladin deck which has no access to Call to Arms but maybe too many medi-core 1 drops to fit the curve + hero power spam.
This doesn't compare well to prince Malchezaar... He's doesn't fill up your deck with more (random legendary) cards making it harder to draw your best cards (the main issue on Malchezaar), but he replaces your 1-drops.
In a topdeck situation mid- to lategame you'd usually rather get a random legendary than a 1-drop (even though protector ain't bad to topdeck sometimes). So after turn 5, the cost of this card, a lot of times it's a strong upgrade even if the pool of legendaries isn't super-amazing.

Okay maybe in midrange secret paladin or something but even in that case I'd rather make it hybrid aggro just because divine favor is so much more powerful.
I think this card will only see play if divine favor goes to HOF.
I think you'll be surprised how much he does actually compare to Malchezaar.
Instead of playing this to replace your 1-mana secrets with random legendaries, just cut out the middleman and run a legendary that isn't random.
It's paladin, so you're playing Call to Arms. That will pull your 1-mana minions. So we're really talking about secrets here. And if you're playing those, Bellringer should be pulling them.
Weasel Liam Baku meta!
Quite useless, i hope i won't be getting this one as a free legendary.

But that's the thing: Instead of running Liam, just run Lich King, or something like that.

He should have been called "Prince Lame".
Too bad the text is "in your deck" and not "in your hand." It would have worked great with Drygulch Jailor.
Although it's kind of a cool tech card against Priests who play Psychic Scream on your board full of Silver Hand Recruits.

you guys realize it says cards and not minions... so put in a bunch of secrets and play this one next to call to arms...
