I agree, we should see a spike in Spiteful Mage decks, though I'm leaning towards Elemental Mage with spell discovery, Leyline Manipulator with Book of Specters.
So they're pushing toward a Mage with less spells but more board-focussed. A nice turn after all this time.
I'm a bit dissapointed that lorewise it doesn't make sense, since Arugal was the one that had brought back the Worgen from their exile for Greymane's army (and had nothing to do with "cloning" things like its ability). Oh well, nvm.

For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?
Awwww I expected a much cooler effect from the card :/ They wasted the lore behind him.
Don't really like him, maybe because I had high expectations for him :(
If they are pushing minion mage they'll need to add more synergy. Maybe the cards yet to be revealed will make the deck strong enough or maybe they will release more synergistic cards in the next expansions. As of now I won't rate it more than "playable".
So... they printed Black Cat to support Odd Mage, since such deck would lose every one of mage's removals; and every other mage card we have seen since that has an even cost.
+6 cards. Very solid little combo. If control mage were to be a thing, it would certainly drool over that.
And hell, not only is it an 8-for-2, but it's not like those huge card advantage effects where it's all just going into your hand - as part of it you're getting a 2/2 (with useful ability) and 6/6 on the board.
Calling it early: Spiteful Mage with limited big spells (e.g 2 Dragon's Fury and 2 Pyroblast) with a ton of elemental synergy and spectral tome is going to be a really common deck in the first couple weeks. Not sure how it will stack up in the meta, but it could do some really brutal things with only a couple new cards.

Hahaha OMG… Blizzard trolling Mages again? Wonderful! So, it seems that now they are trying to promote a spell-less Mage archetype? LOL
Are they aware that spell-less Mages (with the current cards at their disposal) are basically unplayable? And I doubt that the not-yet-revealed 5 mage cards can magically (pun intended) solve that problem... Well, unless...

Top deck is cheat
Minion based Control Mage ? I like it !!! Very refreshing, and this card, while its not anything special is just VALUE on its own.
Very good indeed.
ENOUGH.OTK.PLEASE.
So minion-mage will be a thing huh.
So I see the potential value... but a spell-less or spell-light mage??? I just don't know... I need more to convince me.
Arugal+Countess ashmore =my hand is too full
Miracle miracle miracle...
I think this card would either be really strong or really bad, depending on how good the deck is in the meta
Silver Hand Recruit
Extremely boring card.

This plus that new 7 drop = 8-for-2, for 9 mana.

Question is whether mage will still be live in those late turns..
really a control mage card after they get rid of iceblock... oh well maybe it will work in wild
Better than chromatid, as it costs less and therefore is much easier to combo, but mage is known for its spells more than any other class.
