I mostly play Wild, and Mech Mage is my most-played Mage deck - although it is certainly a niche deck in the format, it's worth considering that HSReplays puts the deck at a 59% win-rate in 9,000 games they've tracked over the past two weeks. The deck performed poorly during the heyday of Pirate Warrior's dominance in the format, but it has recovered quite well over the past year or so. My own list only runs four spells, so I'll certainly try cutting Frostbolt for the new draw spell, and it seems like a good idea to cut one of the Mechs or Azure Drake for Archmage Arugal.
As far as Standard - everyone already understands that Elemental Mage is currently the only option. A two-card, four-mana combo which draws six Elementals certainly won't hurt the potential viability of the deck. In any event, Mage will have two more expansions to make Elementals work during YotRaven, so even if the "Minion Mage" package doesn't work after Witchwood, there will still be opportunities over the coming year.
FWIW - I voted "Playable" for Standard, but I would have voted "Very Good" for Wild.
Calling it early: Spiteful Mage with limited big spells (e.g 2 Dragon's Fury and 2 Pyroblast) with a ton of elemental synergy and spectral tome is going to be a really common deck in the first couple weeks. Not sure how it will stack up in the meta, but it could do some really brutal things with only a couple new cards.
Lol no, thats really weak deck. Worse than current spiteful warrior.
Obviously a very powerful effect, but as a 2-mana 2/2 it's not going to stick around on the board very long. Will probably only get to draw off this is you play it with Book of Specters or Arcane Intellect in the same turn. So maybe not quite as good as it looks at first?
I never said that it will be good, merely that this card is going to entice a lot of people to try to make it good. If you were playing several years ago, imagine this card in a mechmage shell from that era--I think that people are going to try to recreate that with elemental synergy.
So much support for a minion based Mage, but where are the good class minions? It's not like Mage can compete with other classes built around board dominance with just some neutral elementals. Not to mention that with every card revealed it looks like Mage will be left out the even\odd fiesta and most likely destroyed on tempo by pretty much every other class.

As someone already pointed out, Spiteful with Book of Spectres is just too risky. Still, I can imagine a Minion/Ele Mage with a limited selection of high value spells (Blizzard for example. Or Meteor. Or Primal Glyph)
They are pushing the mage in an interesting directions :). Seems like this card will be in almost every mage deck tho (and I like specifically that it's a 2mana minion, so it's either Prince Keleseth or this one).

Great! They push another Spiteful deck. rip skill.
Best legendary by far. This is a safe craft assuming the meta isn't totally screwed up.
first thing that comes to my mind is Leyline Manipulator and Book of Specters sinergy

We will miss babbling book a lot. Need cheap spell generator for mage
good old 2 mana spells with Spitefull
Man, so underwhelming. Not saying the card is bad but I expected more... Mage style card sort of speak. Oh well.
This plus arcane intelect wow
Freeze Mage died for this.
I don't want to play a curvestone game, Blizzard.
Minionful Mage.
Now this is something, I gotta see.
Inb4 that's a very good card. Imho concentrating on minions is something weird in mage, but ok.
good card... but no sense in mage.... a mage is a mage BECAUSE THE SPELLS ... so dissapointing the 2 mage legendary
More support for no spells Mage. Weird!

Mage main here, seems meh on the surface, but my Spidey Sense is telling me this is a big deal card when more new Mage cards are released.

Last expansion, spell hunter.
now, minion mage.
although some fresh new ideas are ok, why raping classes by making them doing the opposite they are supposed to do?
