you have to hit 3 totems for this to be good, and if you have 3 totems out you might as well go for the windshear and try summon al'akir.
Just saccing two of your totems gives you a 6/7 with taunt, much better than Thing from Below that has been reduced twice and played for four mana. There's no need to be super greedy with this card's effect for it to be good. I feel this is more of a midrange tempo card than it is a value control card.

6/7 taunt that costs 4 mana card plus 4 mana worth of hero powers. who wants to play a 6/7 for 8 mana.

Plenty of shamans played Thing from Below despite it needing how many mana worth of hero powers reduce a vanilla 5/5 with taunt by one mana each time. If shaman is going to continue to be the hero power and pass class they might as well be able to use those totems for something.
Well, I've seen just about enough. Calling it now. Shaman is going to be absolute trash again next expansion. Possibly even worse than it is now. Almost nothing playable since ungoro has been released for the class and that doesn't look like changing. All cards released so far are quite average on power level and only fit into very specific decks. Apart from hagatha I'm doubting any will even see play, which is a massive concern considering the current shape of shaman and that Jade claws, Jade lightning, Jade spirit, aya, evolve, devolve, maelstrom portal, the thing from below, flamewrathed faceless are all leaving standard, gutting basically every shaman archetype and replacing it with basically nothing. Shaman need some serious love in their remaining cards.

TFB did not destroy your totems, so you don't add their cost to the TFB.
TFB did not rely on totems on board, so it was not situational.

Exactly. Also, to those who think of Totem Cruncher as a possible 4-mana 6/7+: how many turns do you think will your 2+ basic totems survive? Even when we consider a deck built around Genn Greymane, Wrath of Air Totem is likely to be removed on sight and Searing Totem just needs a ping. And you don't wanna destroy your advanced totems. If you're looking for an unconditional anti-aggro tool early on you could just play Tar Creeper or heck, even Feral Spirit.
Unless they introduce some sort of mass-summon for totems I can't see this being played at all.
Needs to eat at least 2 totems to be better than Yeti, and even then how much better it is is debatable (even in even shaman it would still be a 6 mana 6/7 in that case).
Cards like Frostwolf Warlord do it so much easier, and they don't see play, so don't expect much here IMO.
Do these really need to be beasts? DK Rexxar is already bad enough as it is.
DK rexxar discovers the beasts, so it can't get this one or any other class beasts.
Even if Totem Cruncher were neutral (which I realize makes no sense), it would still not work with Build-a-Beast because it has taunt and a battlecry. Zombeast components may have keywords or text, not both. (A battlecry counts as text.)
People need to keep the rules in mind before getting excited or upset about any of the new beasts.

Should've costed 1 mana less or got +1/1 in basic stats to be playable. Guess they were afraid of 1 mana totems... the fact you can't use it to protect your mana tide totem is also a big downside. Tbh Shaman needs an overstatted minion right now given the state of the class. I predict some broken spell which summons totems is going to be revealed.
Wow, so bad. For 6 mana you get a 4/5 and destroy your only totem summoned with hero-power. Or if you have 2 totems, you get a 6/7. BUT you still destroy your totems. Even if they are tokens, Tokens that gets destroyed by a single card in a meta where Spellbreaker is everywhere is BAD. Even more: if you have 2-3 totems, you rather want them on board for a finisher with bloodlust.
Well let's look at it this way: if you have 1 basic totem, it's fucking fantastic, a chillwind yeti with taunt, but that does require a totem to be present, so it can also defined as 6 mana 4/5 taunt. My cards are actually on the idea that you'll have at least one totem on the field before hand in what this card is good in, control, so I want to say this is a great card!

Best deck for this would be even Shaman obviously but there are some problems with this card:
So i cant see this beeing played, to many negativ points about this card....well at least its cute.
Bad, just like 95% of the cards in this set.

This card is completely unlike TFB.
I note the lack of the word "basic" in the text. Last I checked there were three other totems, two of them have an even cost (even)...
At least it'll be decent in arena.

Fune and cute... but understated and inconsistent.
This is ridiculously bad.
