Hearthstone used to be a game of trading. Now its a game of cheap tricks, combos and face damage. Tell me, how will this card be useful against Cubelock?
Thank you for your in-depth "dies to Doom Blade" type of analysis.
"This has no value against the #1 played deck" is not the same "this dies to X." Combo-ing to deal 4 damage to a minion also has little value against other top decks like dude paladin.
Seems pretty murky to me how often/costly it will be to activate the 1 mana cost. And it also seems a bit hard to evaluate how good 4 damage removal will be for Hunter. I may be that 4 damage isn't much better than 3 in a lot of matchups and a lot worst than 5 in others. And If Hunter suddenly has to start priming this with casting that hound spell it's a 1 for 2 or 2 for 2 (best case?) of removal for a class that seems would rather not be doing that, but being the beatdown instead.
So, I don't know that I agree with this being a 10/10 card. To my eye it looks completely outclassed by Hunter's Mark. And I think when a card is completely outclassed it's going to have trouble finding a deck slot. Not many Hunters are going to be running 2x Hunter's mark and STILL wanting this for more removal.
In Hearthstone, which is a game of trading, you will trade quite often. I am hard pressed to see a metagame where this card isn't staple across all hunter builds.

It's okay if a deck doesn't beat 1 out of the 4 top decks. If you beat the other 3, you have a top deck.

But it's actually really easy to have a minion die in a the Dude Paladin/Murloc Paladin matchup. Not to mention, Explosive Trap is super strong vs both of those. Not to mention, the Hunter DK is super strong vs both of those. Not to mention, the Spellstone is super strong vs both of those. Being able to deal 4 damage on earlier turns (as opposed to waiting until turn 4 to deal 3 damage with Flanking Strike) is a BIG DEAL against an aggro deck.

Rare, pretty nice effect and the art reminds me of a YuGiOh! card called Phoenix Wing Wind Blast which was one of my favourite cards in that game, 4.5/5 .

Explosive trap (or any secret) cannot combo with this because it will never be the same turn. (Good) Paladins will be clearing your board on their turn, so won't have any way to kill a minion on your turn (and play this) until you get to turn 4 at the earliest. If you do manage to combo this early, you've just played two cards in an early turn and have no card draw. Good luck surviving the Call to Arms
Meta defining cause it fits in every hunter archetype even aggro as u can ping a big taunt with ur minion it dies and then u hit with this and procede face.
Meta defining doesnt mean it's super good.
It means it will single handedly shape a class or make an impact on the meta.

I was saying separate things. I'm not saying you combo those together. Also, there's no need to combo this card earlier than CTA, but if there was, you can be certain is well worth it (or you're misplaying).
Also, if I've played all my cards, then my opponent who is a Paladin can't get value from Divine Favor.

I completely agree that we wont have a board trading game until Blizz nerfs cubelock and spitefull summoner shuting down tempo cheating. But we cant evaluate all cards vs a completely broken deck.
I hope we wont see any strong cards in this set imo, just fair cards that play into board trading strategies and next year when frozen throne rotates out we might have a fun board trading game again.

I'm not sold on face hunter utilizing this, since their whole thing is, well, going face. Limiting a spell to minion removal makes this questionable for face hunter. Flanking Strike might slot better, given it provides you with a 3/3 beast while hitting for 3, effectively placing 6/3 on-board if the opposing minion survives the spell. I'm sure given the cost discount that Blast could find a home in a new face hunter, but given what's been revealed, I'm not sure yet.

Rage quitting: the best way to ensure your opponent knows they beat a giant baby.
This is actually an incredible card. UTH is one of the only comeback card that hunter has, and I often find myself using UTH and Kill Command to clear the board/comeback on the board.
This does this for much cheaper. I think this is a very strong card, and yes, its a strong card in hunter.

Face hunter would rather have silence than removal. Owl is a 3 mana, 2/1 deal X damage to minion effectively, and you don't have to lose a minion to trigger it.
spell hunter is already one of the best decks, check viscous syndicate for proof
Spell Hunter won't exist except for in Wild once this card is released.
edit: Should clarify, current iteration of spell hunter won't exist. Perhaps 'spell hunter' will be a thing, but it will function much differently than the barnes/yshaarj version.
Good card, excellent for controlling the board. With Barnes rotating out, hopefully Spell Hunter gets more supporting cards to be relevant, I really enjoy playing that deck...
Not until there is a card that "At the start of the game" changes the hero power to something defensive. And not until hunter gets a decent direct card draw.

I didn't have a signature so Flux added one for me.
While not anything to write home about, 4 damage for 4 mana isn't the wooorst thing ever in a worst case scenario.
4 damage for 1 mana though? Insane value, obviously.
It'll be interesting to see if there's a hunter deck that can control board well enough to consistently get the discount, but I could foresee this becoming a valuable tool in a midrange hunter deck.
Well, I'm not going to lie, I haven't played that deck, so I'm not really adequately talking about it.
Dunno mate, I'm fully aware, that you won't always draw Barnes when you need it, not to mention, that Y'Shaarj in the starting hand is just a dead card. Please share your experience, but for me spell hunter gives the opponent a lot of time to react. I have played other control decks against it and only Barnes+Y'shaarj was the threat I couldn't deal with. For me it's logical for an aggro player to wait and not to trigger any of the secrets, until their board is buffed enough to withstand the 2 damage AoE. How's in your case?
A good hunter card? Must be another April Fools Joke.

Ok, now I believe in a slower hunter. Good job blizzard, good job.
