two everyone complaining that it doesnt work with Call to Arms:
Neither does Hydrologist, and that is still a core card in murloc pally (partly because of the tag, partly because of the effect).
This card is good enough to justify playing in the same deck as Call to Arms if there is enough dragon synergy in this expansion and in following sets.

Hydrologist have the murloc synergy to justify run it, this card is just a 2/2 its pretty weak with CtA. Again, I think it's going to be a Midrange deck if it's going to be good enough I do not know depends on the cards they're going to reveal to paladin, but CtA does not make sense to me ...
do u think they bring up more dragons this expansion since they already printed some dragon supporters?
Yeah definely, but it will need to be very strong dragons otherwise like everyone is saying no one will play paladin without Call to Arms because it is completely busted.
I mean, I'm repeating what everyone else is thinking, but what the hey. There's really no doubt in anyone's mind that this is an objectively great card. Shielded Minibot was the best 2-drop in the game, period, so Shielded Minibot with taunt should be absolutely batshit, BUT... This card is just a vanilla 2/2 when pulled with Call to Arms, and Call to Arms is pretty much tied with Tirion Fordring for the best Paladin card ever printed. Call to Arms is obviously insane in aggro, but it's also insane in midrange because it pulls the garbage from your deck so you don't lose by topdecking a 1-drop in the late game. On the other hand, playing this on curve combined with Call to Arms later will basically win you the early game no matter what.
For midrange paladin, as that's the deck that might run this card, it's a question of this gargoyle, or Dire Wolf Alpha. Gargoyle is a FAR superior turn 2 play, and is also a strong taunt for dealing with aggro, but is just a vanilla 2/2 when pulled with Call to Arms. Is that a tradeoff worth making? Maybe.
Dire Wolf Alpha has better synergy with Paladin 1-drops and makes for a better Call to Arms pull, even if you can't really control where it is when it's pulled that way. Regarding which one is better to play later in the game, it gets a bit tough. Alpha can push a bit more damage and can enable slightly better trades, but the Gargoyle can protect your minions and is a much better target for buffs because of the Divine Shield. I'd say it's a wash. At any rate, if all goes well, you will never draw either because you recruited them with Call to Arms.
With this in mind, which is better? It depends on how many good dragons there are, and on what the final decks look like. This is likely a card that will have to be played with to evaluate properly. Personally, I'm happy that this card exists, and am a little bit more hopeful that midrange paladin might be good enough to actually play in the future.
it's really good but won't see that much play because of the anti-sinergy with Call to Arms, once they nerf CTA, if they ever nerf it, then gargoyle will the the light of the day, but until then it won't be used.
Honestly, the tragedy of dragon paladin is that they keep printing the one card it needs to be viable in standard... Right after some other vital piece of it rotates to wild. Primordial Drake was the game changing bomb to follow Dragon Consort on turn 6... Right at the same time as Dragon Consort rotated out of standard. Cathedral Gargoyle+Nightbane Templar WOULD have been the early game Dragon Paladin needed... Except Nightbane Templar is rotating out. In Wild Dragon Paladin was semi-playable during Un'Goro, but the power level of the decks there are too high to allow something as clunky as Dragon Paladin to really thrive out there. D'oh well. Maybe next year!
thank god rallying blade is rotating...

well not bad card, misses where i saw dragon pally
This goes to show how OP was Shielded minibot. This is subpar in comparison.
Shielded Minibot and Dragon pally are back in ONLY 1 card
You are not gonna play any paladin deck without call to arms, until it rotates, or gets nerfed.. which I assume the later will happen first.
I do not think they are going to nerf this, unfortunately.

I’m not complaining but does anyone else think it’s a bit weird that paladin is only just now getting its second dragon support card?
Either way I’m hyped to see dragons staying relevant, they are fun to play even if they are expensive.
No, Dragon Paladin will not be a thing. Not even close with all the cards revealed so far.
Meta changes the moment you switch your deck.
I think Blizzard learned that minibot was OP AF so they made a slightly worst one.
Hearthstone is a game of "copy and pasting"

if only they printed a card that was a beast and a dragon to utilize in the weird paladin deck.....
HELLO Nightmare Amalgam.
huh? why does the beat tag matter? the xurator curator rotated out. and in wild you rather just play shielded mini bot.
Meh
