edit: I should start running this to combat Combo Priest.
You can't combat combo Priest with Mastiffs either? The card is decent, but dealing 8 for 8 to a SINGLE minion is poor. Cards that remove big minions usually cost less. AoE cards damage other minions as well. This is an AoE effect on a single minion. Now I know LK isn't the only minion, but it will have trouble with other high health minions as well. Like I said, it needs to be combo'ed. Almost always, to make it effective. For that you need, minions already on board, weapon, other combo cards like Hyena or Stampede, handbuffs, other low cost removal spells.
It is 10 mana for 5 2/1s late game. Seriously? That's funny. 2 mana for a 2/1. 4 mana for 2 2/1s? Really. It NEEDS to be combo'ed. Almost all analysis state that this card will be poor on it's own. The opponent doesn't need a board for this to be played. Yes. But you really wanna play 2 mana 2/1 that doesn't even hit face?
Control Hunter NEEDS A LOT MORE. This card has potential, but all Hunter cards have potential. Right?
As a matter of fact, the more I think about this card, the worse it feels.
I am going to stop thinking about this card, because as a long time Control Hunter enthusiast, it makes me feel hollow.
Not sure how much play it can see with constructed. but echo and rush is interesting.
In arena this is likely a good card. Early game is mostly trading for board control, and this is just like Bluegill Warrior in the trading department. But during late game its a decent removal tool imo. Being able at 10 mana, to do 10 damage split to the board is solid especially for a class that lacks removal.

In Arena it will be a great card no doubt. It will give you the edge to remove those low health minions. Something that Hunter's greatly suffer (covered by Candle Shot to some extent). This will very likely not be the case in Standard I am afraid.

No no, I meant running 1x BGH in Control Warlock to counter when they sometimes threaten lethal with a big minion I can't otherwise deal with. Spellbreaker would work too.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.

Oh, I see. I didn't understand you.
Overall, you can see I am trying to make Mastiffs work. But they aren't doing well on their own.
If it had charge it might be playable in constructed, but hunter in its current form isnt going to get better in wild because of this card. It just doesnt compete with the other two drops available, even with the echo costs
This card seems insane. Comeback tool, efficiently trades. This is probably the most flexible control tool hunter has ever had
and if you're in need of a board and your opponent has nothing, it isnt even the worst thing in the world to fill your board with these
Exactly my thought, when i build a deck there is always the question between:
How good is that card on curve, and how good is it lategame ( or topdeck mode) . This card seems mediocre on curve ( bluegill Warrior) ,and later it’s like the magespell that consumes your mana and deals that amount of dmg to a minion.
The reason to play with this card would be a powerplay by combining it with Knifejuggler , Hyena, or DirewolfAlpha, maybe Razormaw. The question remains if that’s worth it to build a deck around.

Might be playable.
Playable by itself, nice flexibility, but in the end a very expensive AoE tool that might be too expensive for the flexibility.
Whether it will shine is whether a deck finds some combo piece (Stampede, Knife Juggler, Timber Wolf, etc.)

Stampede, Lock N Load, Scavenging Hyena, spell Hunter, this will be loads of fun!

Too fair. Won't see constructed play unless serious synergy cards are printed. I think people overestimate the usefulness of rush.
Great card but I'll stick with unleash the hounds and hope for leokk with animal companion lol
