I'm going to call it playable, but I don't expect it to do well. For starters, hunter is inherently an SMOrc archetype. Even spell hunter, the first viable hunter archetype which does not have ''play on curve and go face'' as the win condition, frequently wins by rushing the opponent down. The only reason I'm giving this the benefit of the doubt is because maybe Blizzard will make control hunter viable (considering the community feedback) and because of a potential stampede combo (althought I forgot which set that card is from.
5. It makes DK Rexxar's Hero Power more interesting, but not necessarily better. Yes, it gives rush to that poison minion, but won't be able to play a lot of them anyways. The mana cost will be too high, but it does give you the option of removing big enemy minions.
Incorrect. Shouldn't be able to get both rush and poisonous, because of the system for it - it'll only get paired with stuff that has card text instead. Odds are you're fishing for a gastropod from the build a beast workshop anyway, tbh. Now, this paired with the cleaving hydra could be fun :P
My bad, mechanics and some interactions are still cloudy for me. The combo with Hydra is interesting. 5 mana 4/5 that deals damage to adjacent minions is great. Not to mention, can be played twice. But it is once again, high roll RNG. As fun as that is, it will be inconsistent. It will form decent combo with some taunt minions too. But once again, if you notice something very similar to my previous, the word repeating itself is COMBO. It needs a combo to work.
On the other hand, I believe DK Rex will be one of the best cards during the expansion, but a topic for another thread.
The flexibility makes it really, really good. You can use it as very flexible removal, something Hunter can otherwise struggle with. You can also simply play the minions as is to put up to 10 damage on the board. Sure, it's countered by any AoE, but many non-control decks run little to no AoE in the first place. The final benefit is that this is great at filling out the mana curve. Normally you're not very happy about drawing a 2-drop late in the game, especially not with an aggressive class like Hunter, but this card is just as good at any point in the game.
The only reason I votes playable is that its beast. Still might change to bad. Nobody plays Bluegill Warrior. This is just a Bluegill that can't hit face but can played a few times in a turn. Meh. Especially in Hunter, where you've likely lost if you've gone past turn 6.
This looks like a weak but flexible card. Seems to suit a more control or midrange archetype. Against decks faster than you, it can be used to clear (although not very well), against decks slower than you it can be used to play minions into the board. But stats aren't really enough in my opinion.
While Rush cannot go face,if there is a taunt in the way its basically Charge as its no difference between them.
Its also a good top-deck in the late-game i mean 5 2/1 beasts look scary on an empty board even if they dont really hit face, its still 10 damage on the board with just 1 single card ! (that is something to consider since hunter usually doesnt have many cards in hand in late-game) and demand some sort of an AoE.
I see the card as a tech against taunts while it is more expensive than Deadly Shot it does have the Flexbility to be used in different manners.
Voted Meta-defining because Flexility is what i value on this card + DK Rexxar and Timber Wolf/Leokk combos.
Someone mentioned its good vs Secrets and yeah you can ruin Mage easily with it.

Only the last Copy you play in a turn is a bluegill, all other copies you play are Bluegills that draw a card which has obviously more value than a normal bluegill. So basically the more copies you play the better this card gets.
Also dont forget Bluegill was/is played in a tier 1 Deck namely Anyfin Paladin.
Which shows that even a Bad card can be Top when the support is right. Possible we get more Rush synergie in this set.
I think with the inclusion of both Hounds and Mastiffs, Cult Master will be included in Hunter decks, especially with the +3/+3 buff to beasts. You can also have Toxmonger with Archer and Boar. Along with Candle Shot and Hunter's Mark, you will constantly remove minions. That's alot of removal and you need to draw your buffed beasts to finished off the game or the ever so awesome DK.
The question is, which beast do you buff? And the Cult Master combo starts at 7 mana or 8 mana to make use of atleast two Mastiffs. If you have minions on the board already, then it's even better.
Tbh, it feels like there is a lot of potential for many Hunter archetypes in the upcoming meta. Baku and Mann will also encourage creative decks.
Hunter might have an aggro, a mid-range and control deck present in the meta. And no, I am not kidding, I think Hunter will be very good and very flexible.
Copy this with Dire Frenzy, and you have a huge pile of 5/4 rush minions to your disposal.
I wish. The buff only affects the first Hunting Mastiff played- the other ones summoned by the Echo function, regrettably, remain 2/1 minions.
Still probably worth it, though, because there's way worse ways to have value than by having three chances in your deck to summon a 5/4 with four 2/1s to accompany it.

Minionless Hunter will love this! Kappa
Seems really expensive, 2 mana to deal 2 damage to a minion compares very poorly to any normal AOE spell.
Of course Hunter doesn't have normal AOE spells, just UtH... We'll have to see if this is strong enough to be run. I have my doubts.
(One thing it will be good at is defending an existing board state, which Hunters so far were not particularly good at. So there's that.)

This is a sleeper.
seems bad for me

DeathKnight Rexxar getting buff finally
Very useful to remove taunts when the opponent board is limited.
