The stats and rush definitely make it very solid as far as minions go. However assuming the 2/1s trade in to the hunter then its only a 5/4 with rush which won’t be playable in constructed.
Warrior is probably the only that would even look into this becuase they can kill those 2/1s with their many cheap whirlwind effects but they have the way better version in Militia Commander to play with. So I’m not impressed and this will be unplayable.
Could work well in control warrior maybe. T4 blood razor and attack. T5 this and attack with BR so you clear the 2 2/1 and remain with a 5/7 capable of trading with another piece. In theory it’s Great for board control (also with the new militia commander), we could see a new control warrior in which we play less aoe and more minions
decent but i doubt it will make any top-tier constructed deck. its essentially like hungry dragon in a sense, the advantage of this minion is that the 5/8 can clear something else rather than those 2 x 2/1s but overall, nothing spectacular.
I'm amazed at how many people keep saying "won't be played", or "it's just a 5/4 with rush". I mean, do you even have an imagination? Do you know how easy it is to pop two 1 health minions with so many classes? The possibilities are plentiful with this card.
As an other dude said. A good Big Priest counter too.
A 5/8 which gives the opponent a pair of 2/1s is a net play of 1/6 for 5 mana. You likely kill the biggest enemy minion on the board, but the spawned Mucks will often simply trade into whatever remains of the Hunter, so it's difficult to see how this card will consistently gain any sort of value - and like the other cards which spawn minions for the enemy, it's often unplayable once you've fallen behind on the board.
FWIW - this is the first card of the set for which I've voted "Dust It!"
Echoing what people have been saying that it is a pretty good arena card but way too fair/unbroken to see play in constructed. Yeah if you have a whirlwind it's a doomguard without charge but when you need another spell just to make it decent it's not going to be in ranked.
We have a ton of 5 health minions being played right now, especially low attack taunts (shout out to malfurion), but we also have a lot of aggro decks with many low health minions (a.k.a. dude paladin), so it ain't that crazy to think the same control warrior would run both this and whirlwind-alikes, throwing this into a board full of little stuff and a big taunt or that-paladin-3/3-that-gives-bubbles-to-1-health-minions-I-forgot-the-name and just clear it all. Not broken, but pretty swingy nonetheless, will be great if warrior crawls out of its limbo, otherwise might be occasionally used in midrangey-control mage, warlock and some others.
