The amount of people who are underestimating this card baffles me. This isn’t a control card, it’s a midrange card that allows you to dominate opposing board states with ease.(Midrange decks have enough high statted minions in high enough concentration too truly abuse it)Too go over why this card is so good, let’s look at it piece by piece.
Statline/Cost: 4 mana for a 3/6. Respectable, good even. Compared to Fandral, another card that can dominate unchecked though in a different way, it even gains an extra health point. 6 health is a lot to get through and provides it a good chance to survive to your next turn. 4 mana means it can come out pretty early, allowing it’s ability to really shine. While it’s not optimal, you can also play it with some smaller dorks turns 6-7 to have some immediate board impact and get more out of your minions that you otherwise could. This can be seen in its INSANE ability.
Ability Impact:People are completely underestimating rush. Hearthstone is a minion based game, where the attacker gets to dictate trades. Having rush means that your minions will be set up to easily dominate the board. It gives you utter control over the boardstate.
Conclusion:This card is incredible. It STILL might not see play if the right shell for a midrange hunter doesn’t come together, but the people who think it’s objectively weak simply don’t understand the game, hence this long winded post. As far as control hunter goes, I doubt it’ll see play there. Just not enough minions there in the builds I’ve seen, and any builds that can truly abuse it would just be turning into a midrange deck. Tundra rhino is great and all, but for any midrange/tempo based deck 1 mana is a MASSIVE difference.(+1/+1 and the ability to have charge itself balance eachother out in my eyes) So yeah, this is a great legendary for hunter.EDIT(Decided to put this in when I saw a few other comments in the thread):Doubt it’s much of an improvement to Quest Hunter though. Same reason why TR isn’t-deck needs to be focused solely on completing quest to have any payoff. Hence why it is a bad deck. I also doubt it’ll put Cave Hydra and Gastropod into many more decks. Why run bad cards to synergize with your 1 of, when you could just run creatures that are good without the legend and even better with him? Maybe not meta defying, but very good ad minimum.
Jokes aside, this is my favourite card of the set. 4: 3/6 is just great, and it gives all minions rush not only beasts. It is a strong, solid card. Will not win the game on its own but will make it swing in your favour. Will probably be a staple in many hunter decks. call me crazy but I think this card might make Bestial Wrath worthwile.
This one is a good legendary. It's not a build-around, in my opinion, just a solid minion that can be put in any midrange shell. Play on turn 4, there is no need to keep it for crazy comboes. If you draw it later, sure, it comboes nicely with poisionous minions and Highmanes. But would you put a Cobra or something else into your deck just because of this minion? I'm not sure. I feel like it will be better in a deck without excessive combos.
interesting legendary. the removal of beast as a requisite is good. Definitely isn't a smorc card like Tundra Rhino.
Just realized a potential with Grim Patron. Although hunter lack any self damage spells/minions like what was Patron Warrior, so likely doesn't end up in being a real thing.
I might run Stubborn Gastropod just because of this card. Control Hunter is real.
Ok I'm already halfway fantasizing about a world where Control Hunter runs Master Oakheart and pulls this with a Gastropod and something else.
You could have been running it with Tundra Rhino...........
Tundra Rhino costs 1-mana more, and being able to do something one turn earlier is a pretty big deal in Hearthstone. You ever played Control Priest back in the day? "Can I afford to save coin for Entomb or do I need to coin out Sludge Belcher" was a very real and often difficult problem. Houndmaster Shaw coming down on 4 (and having 6 health vs 5 health) is a BIG DEAL.

I agree, i think the card is great. Im just lol'ing at all the people pointing out combos with beasts as if it were never possible before
I can understand how everyone underestimated Deathstalker Rexxar with words like "Too slow" and "Control Hunter will never be a thing", but seriously guys?
One year later and the DK card has been used in practically every single Hunter deck since it came out. Here is a card that is clearly more tempo oriented and undeniably worth its mana cost in stats, and we're hearing the exact same criticisms.
Just like Deathstalker, I think this card will be used in nearly every Hunter deck. It's not going to be a must draw to win sort of card. Hunters will win off the strength of their early game and tempo cards just like they always have, but the best decks will run solid versatile cards like this one.
Or you could play the same card next turn and get some huge beast value. Hunter already had a card very similar, albeit, maybe a little worse, but it really was just a waste of a legendary

With this and Tundra Rhino you have many ways to control the board through minions
Everybody talking about "Beasts" could have been running those cards already.
Bad card SMOrc

This is insane, killing a 3/6 on turn 4 is almost impossible. And if this stays 1 turn on board, its prob GG

Average scenario, the card is a (4) 3/6 soft taunt.
At least playable, possibly even good.
I loved this card: it seems that they are grooming Hunter for Genn Greymane. Hopefully they support this guy with 2-mana minions
Nice

Mind Control Tech seems fun with this new legendary...
The Boogeymonster and Giant Sand Worm shenanigans.
Combo with Glinda Crowskin + Wisp for full board clear!
Or you could play the same card next turn and get some huge beast value. Hunter already had a card very similar, albeit, maybe a little worse, but it really was just a waste of a legendary
Me trade? No! Me go face? Yes!
All cards are balanced, but some cards are more balanced than others.
This card is great. It’s difficult to kill on curve and you can really punish your opponent if they don’t deal with it.
